Question: If you could go to the future and leave everything behind would you!?
Knowing that Time Travel is possible if you move faster then the speed of light!. If there were a machine that could create artificial gravity to the counter the crushing effects of g-force and that could sustain you for 4yrs would you knowingly go into it and live for those 4 years while the earth aged thousands of years!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

I would very, very much like to see and live in the distant future!. But simply jumping from here to there via time machine would have its problems!.

First, I wouldn't want to leave my family behind!. I have a wife, mom, sister, and other relatives that I would miss, and (not to sound too narcissistic) would also miss me!.

Second, language evolves!. If you went back in time just 500 years, you'd have extreme difficulty understanding the English that was spoken at that time!. Many words used back then either became obsolete and disappeared from usage, or had completely different meanings from today!. Similarly, just think of all the new words that have come into use in just the past 20 years, including technical terms (nanotech, cell phone, URL, DVD, Javascript, etc!.) and cultural terms (lol, rofl, emoticons, and the super-abbreviated spellings used in text messages)!. Fast forward a few thousand years, and language-wise, you'd be starting over from scratch again like learning a new and very different foreign language!.

also I think it's probably a good bet that the far future will be a very different place than today, not just technologically but culturally, politically, socially, etc!. You could be entering a world with completely different religions, nations, social values, public institutions, laws, sentient AI's, economic systems, ideas about the worth of a human being, etc!. There will almost certainly be some culture shock, but I think anyone wanting to make the trip would probably be the type who can adjust and adapt to new realities better!.

Me, I want to see the far future, but I'd also like to see all the years between now and then!. That would go a long ways in eliminating any language or culture shock problems!. I'm hoping that biotech is able to solve that pesky aging design flaw that we all currently have (see books below), though failing that, I'm also hoping to sign up for cryonics one of these days!. Cryonic suspension would be like your time machine in that I'd be fast-forwarded into a different time (hopefully just a few decades or centuries instead of millennia), but it beats rotting in the ground!.

My first instinct is yes!. However, would my being there change the course of history and if so, would it negatively impact Earth's future!? also, would I want to know that all life on Earth was desecrated and we'd occupied Mars and I ended up dying on a toxic planet!? There are too many variables to this question to take into account, so I would have to say as much as I would love to go, I wouldn't!. I wouldn't want to risk destroying the future!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

No!.
I would miss my life!. There is more here than just my house, my studio, my artwork and my social life!.
There is my wife, my family, my brothers, and my sisters, my parents, my friends and the two dogs that depend on me because they are pets!.
I'm not giving all that up for an unknown future!. Www@QuestionHome@Com
