It isn't that easy but I am sure you aren't the only one who feels this way!. I would LOVE to do that!. I tell my friends all the time that I don't feel like i belong here I want to go live in the wild on my own terms!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

The biggest chain that holds us to another person is love!. Remember Ray Charles' old song that starts off with the line "Take these chains from my heart and set me free!?" We all seek love!. We want it, we need it, and it's what we search for until we find it!. Then, more often than not, we end up in a relationship / marriage that does not fulfill us but by the time we realize it, we have children--more chains that bind us!. And so we stay "until the kids are grown!." By now we're in our 50s and used to our lot in life!. So do we think of ourselves as miserable!? In most cases, no!. It's what we have become used to!.

Blessed be the chains that bind!Www@QuestionHome@Com

perspective one:
what are the sources of misery!? are they outside of your control!? than you have your answer!.

perspective two:
what is this "system"!? what are the alternatives!?

thought experiment: i'm going to assume "system" is a government!.
let's assume a lack of government to provide protection!.
i pick up a rock, smash your skull, and take your food!.
there is no governing body to stop me!. i'm bigger, stronger, faster, and smarter than you, if you have something i want, i can take it!.
now, do you want a government!?

EDIT: if you are so sure about life without a government, read Leviathan by Hobbes!. life in a state of nature is nasty, brutish, and shortWww@QuestionHome@Com

Because, like it or not, the "system", flawed though it may be, is the best thing we've got!. The only alternatives are revolution- which would be replacing the flawed system with, in all likelihood, an even worse one, or anarchy- and the only outcome of a society without rules is chaos, violence, and death!. So, in the end, we simply choose the lesser of the two evils!. Does this make us complacent cowards!? Maybe!. But if it does, then we are smart complacent cowards!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Some are addicted to the chain of pain, besides it gives them something to talk about and spread!. For those it is the only way to feel alive!. Too bad, suffer baby, said the mouse to the elephant!.
