The point of this riddle is to dispute to possibility of omnipotence!. No matter the answer, the end result is always God cannot be all powerful!. I highlights the fact that true omnipotency entails self-conquering abilities; which, destroy the possibility of true omnipotency!.

As a rebuttal to small, I mean you no offense, but I disagree!. Power is most often defined as the ability to manipulate things!. Potency means the same!. If we establish the prefix omni- in front of it, it come to mean the ability to manipulate all things or to do anything!. If he made a rock but then couldn't lift it, something is out side of his control and then cannot be omnipotent!. If he couldn't make the rock at all, as an object he couldn't control, then again he is not omnipotent!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

There are plenty of things god's not capable of doing!.

Eg!. Can god create a more powerful god than him!? If he can, then he would no longer be all-powerful!. If he can't, then he's not capable of everything!. also, can god commit suicide!? If he can't, he not all-powerful!. If he can, then he's not immortal!.

Religious people squirm at these type of questions because it proves their faulty logic!. The best they can say is "it's not important", "he would never consider it so it's irrelevant", or that the question's a logical fallacy that can't be answered!. It's a logical question so the only fallacy is their teachings, not the question!.

Philosophy is about the love of knowledge, that's why philosphy challenges convention while religion requices conformity without serious questioning!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

That is the most common negation of the existence of God!.!.!.!.!.!. but, the point is that since God would never want to do that, the question becomes irrelevant!. In any case, my definition of power is the capability to fulfill one's needs, desires and ambitions!.!.!.!.!.!. God is all powerful since He is supposed to be able to do everything that He may ever will to do!. I therefore do not use this argument to negate the concept of an omnipotent God!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Since God cannot create logical impossibilities such as 2+2=5, he is not omnipotent!. Therefore, God's power is limited!. No matter how heavy an object God makes, he still has the ability it!. For example, If God makes a 2-ton rock, God can lift a 2-ton rock!. If God makes a 4-ton rock, God can lift a 4-ton rock!. God can create a rock of any weight and still have the ability to lift it!. Therefore, there is no such thing as an object too heavy for God to lift!. The existence of such an object is itself a logical impossibility!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Sure he could!. He can do anything he wants to, so if he wants to make something that he can't lift then he'll do so!. The question is flawed since it doesn't mention his will to lift or his will to create such an object!. If he doesn't want to be able to lift it then it will be easy for him to create it even of it's the size of a fingernail!. The questions are "Why would God want to create something he can't lift!?" and "Has he done so already without telling his followers about it!?"Www@QuestionHome@Com

Your question is called a paradox or catch-22!. When the parameters of a question create an illogical condition, no answer is possible!.

The same question could be, the US creates a missile that can penetrate anything!. The Russians invent a wall that can stop anything from penetrating!. What happens when the missile is shot at the wall!?

Your question isn't answerable in the normal sense; however, I would reply that God would not create a paradox!.!.!.!.

exactly, omnipotence is not possible!. this is in fact proof that an entity that is all powerful is indeed impossible, and thus god, if defined as an all powerful being is impossible!. so either you need to change your definition of god, or you need concede god doesn't exist!.

but this would not constitute proof to people that believe in god, they will invent little twists and stuff that make their beliefs still somehow sort of possible if you use fallacies!.

for example people that believe in god, might tell you that free will must exist, and therefore god cannot will you will things!. a limitation of god, thus god is not all powerful!. but they sleep soundly with this contradiction!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

It's based on your beliefs!. If you think there's a powerful God, then I think your powerful God will be able to make and move anything!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

One theory is that we as humans are incapable of understanding the concepts of omnipotence of God!. It is just too much for us to grasp with our limited intelligence!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Yeah, sure!. The question is, could he make a lever that could move it and if he could, where would he stand to push it!?Www@QuestionHome@Com
