Question: Which philosophical views are the most uplifting, and the most depressing!?
I'm new to philosophical terms to correct me if I'm wrong:

Nihilism- Everything is meaningless!. Even cynical philosophers call nihilism depressing!.
Absurdism- Life is absurd, like Sisyphus' task of rolling the boulder to have it fall down!. Absurd as it is, we must try enjoy rolling the border anyway!.
Existentialism- Life is without meaning, but we have the chance to make something wonderful out of it!.
Materialism- Happiness comes from having things making us comfortable!.
Others!?

I identify with absurdism the most!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I'd say nihilism is the most depressing because it is just void of all emotion, and I suppose being sad with hope is better than feeling nothing!. The "emptiness" there is much different from the emptiness in others such as Buddhism!.!. which is about letting go in a good way ;)

I'd say of more uplifting philosophies, I'd include Taoism!. It always makes me happy, because of its beauty in simplicity!Www@QuestionHome@Com

There are many ways of viewing life but the most down to earth Philosopher I have found is Rodan of Alexandria!. "Animals respond nobly to the urge of life, but only man can attain the art of living, albeit the majority of mankind only experience the animal urge to live!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
