I did a project on altruism and found that, even when we are helping others, there is underlying self serving intent, such as wanting to feel important, avoiding guilt and fear etc!.

Since we are all connected, what you do for yourself, you do for everyone else!. It's known as enlightened self-interest!. also, what you do for anyone, you do for yourself!.
