If it were not almost 100 years as it is now!. But that is only one sweet chapter which comes to an end in your life!. More may follow!. Fortunately, the ability to feel such things remains unimpaired, and we continue stumbling through the dark, sometimes feeling ecstasy, sometimes despair, until our body says, "Enough, the game is done!" Perhaps a "lifetime" cannot be measured in mere years, but emotional resource, and the desire to search on!. A short life, rich in experiences, is better lived, than a long life of emptiness!.Www@QuestionHome@Com What about 1 000 years!? That sounds very appealing to me!. If maturity was attained at between 40 and 50, as it is now, that would mean we would have centuries to perfect that maturity and develop a superior understanding of the world!. Because life is so brief we hardly have any time left to enjoy the beauty of Life!. We spend our little time running crazy from birth to death, always in a hurry to live because there is a timetable to follow!. 1 000 years of life would allows us to live leisurely!.Www@QuestionHome@Com It's hard to project what the downside of a longer lifespan would be, beyond about 150!. I would guess that adaptability of culture could start to be seriously compromised if we lived and were healthy and sane and productive to about 150!. Since there'd be more of the population older, and thus more of the powerful would be conservative!. But it sure would be good if we could know our great grandparents, and not die off practically as soon as we become decently wise!. It seems like we lose so much, as a society, just because our most experienced people don't stick around long enough to have a big influence on our youngest people!. History is forgotten way, way too quickly!. It'd be cool if most people made it to, say, 130 or so, with a small percentage making it to 180ish!. Just guessing!.!.!. If we all had the choice to be immortal, we would not be allowed to have children!.!.!.think about it-we would just spread and be miserable!. Death is a natural and necessary part of existence!. Though we all want to stave it off for as long as possible, it keeps us developing, which is a good thing!. When we know we have a limited time, we act to make things better while we still can!. I intend to leave this world a better place then I came into it, as should everyone!. When I die, I want to know that I helped make the world better, I would not be content just existing and spreading my DNA!. If I knew I'd live forever, why bother helping the world be a better place now!? For others 100 is to short!. Life does not evolve without death!. There is no game, no life in the senses we know it without death!. Our lifespans are adequate!. So I'd gladly accept death at 40!.
