You have asked an intriguing, most appropriate, and timely question, one that is important for all of us at present!. The answer will necessarily be simple, complex, and profound, all at once!. It will also be evolving, a work in progress, for societies, and life itself, are dynamic and change over time!. This is healthy and creative!.

First, all people are equal!. Empower all, and there is no need for corrupt, incompetent leaders!. We are all Kings ('Amra Sabai Raja', from the title of the song by the Nobel Laureate Rabindranath Tagore)!.

Encourage people to be aware, through conscious living, in harmony with themselves, others, and all!. The society will govern itself, if the basic tenets of mutual respect are followed!. One document that is excellent to follow is the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, written approx!. 2200 years ago!. One can read it in about an hour, and the translation prints out in 20 pages or less, depending on the translation!.

This is one example!. It does not have to be any blueprint!. We must get beyond all books to go to the source!. And we can embrace all learning as a way of progress!.

Through healthy living, and sharing, people will find the way we are intended to live on the planet!. A simple life is best!. This does not necessarily mean living like the Shakers or other groups!. Modern technology can be employed!. What it means to is to find a sustainable balance, green living, for that has to be the way of the present if our planet will continue to sustain human and other life!.

What is obvious is that the ways of the past must be changed!. Take the best lessons, the best from these ways, and abandon what has been proven not to work!. Despotic leaders waging destructive wars (facilitated by enabling followers - the 'sheeple'), throwing our toxic garbage into the sea, land, and air - these things, and many more dysfunctional acts!.!.!. must be stopped!. The shocking attrition of species worldwide must be arrested!. We need the flora and fauna diversity of our planet for us to survive!. Toxic waste thrown into the environment ends up in our own bodies, and pollutes all forms of life!. What a stupid thing to do!. It must be stopped!.

There are many examples of people trying to do this (start societies) on small and large scales in the past!. We can learn from what happened to these efforts!. Communes or 'intentional communities' were popular during the 1960's and 1970's, both here in the US and abroad!. Today, there are very few surviving intentional communities!. The same can be said of governments, and even countries, whole cultures!. Over time, there is a rise and fall!.

In my view, the answer comes down to one thing, as the most important factor in the success rate of an intentional community built on human values!. And here is what that factor is:

Each person's awareness, and how they conduct themselves, based on their awareness!. Be yourself, no one else can!. Be in the present to know the present, and to plan for the future!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

i would (like to)start a society on the lines (of the start theories)of the work of (sir) karl Popper!.
He argued successfully that one cannot start with a "blank canvas",not now and not ever!
So,we have to understand how things interact here-and-now,whilst explaining how one would change things for the better!.
This is a start, and an opportunity;a challenging one but one that is not limited to the experts;i mean those experts we were and are constantly told are the ones who are "rightfully" placed to stert new things in a different society!Www@QuestionHome@Com

I will cut and paste Rush lyrics-

And the men who hold high places
Must be the ones to start
To mould a new reality
Closer to the heart

The blacksmith and the artist
Reflect it in their art
Forge their creativity
Closer to the heart

Philosophers and ploughmen
Each must know his part
To sow a new mentality
Closer to the heart

You can be the captain
I will draw the chart
Sailing into destiny
Closer to the heartWww@QuestionHome@Com

i would set it up much as America is set up today with one key difference in order to live their after the age of 18 you must contribute to society in some why weather it be labor or otherwise only exception would be those who are truly mentally ill(can do absolutely nothing without help) or extremely physically handicapped individuals the only other thing i might add after that would be an I!. Q!. and essay requirement for all who wished to serve in public office, as well as a mandatory cap on champagne spending no matter the office!.
and perhaps a flat tax for all (everybody pays the same) this would keep taxes relatively low for everyone!.

this just might be a perfect system =)

yes i would!. it would be a socialist society!. the closest place i can think of is sweden!. there are certain things that wouldnt be tolerated in this society, such as racism!. those people would be life in prison on the spot!. we would have little or no police!. abortions would be encouraged!. human cloning would be legal!. i would invest in education, and healthcare!. bad drivers would also be locked up!. ie, people who dont signal, change lanes excessively, etc!. alcohol would be banned, but hard drugs like cocaine wouldnt!. marriage and religion would also be banned!. things like retirement, welfare, and unemployment support would be guaranteed!. private cars would not be allowed!. instead there would be a large network of public transport!. community centres would emerge with full services, free of charge!. there would be a pool, gym, live music, tv, internet and food for everyone!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

it'd be a peaceful place full of arts and new ideas where anything can be considered as normal!. it wouldn't have any moral codes telling you who to be, what to desire or when or how to do things!. a place for anyone to come and enjoy life how they please!.

instead of jails, anyone tried to physically hurt anyone else or was racist or prejudice, etc, would simply be deported and sent off to america or somethingWww@QuestionHome@Com

Arm the citizenry and have it based on what the founding fathers wanted originally!. If their leaders were found to be corrupt we would execute them!. We would not join any BS like the UN and would not make any compromises to other countries wishes!. And we would not have politicians as most of the ones we have in office I view do not deserve to have any power!. We would have regular people and they would be forced to step down after a set amount of time!. There are a few who still give a **** about the people!. I know 2 that at least call me back when I call them and have good voting records!. They are both republicans!. There is not a single democrat I trust or like in my state!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
