She/he can settle into one of them as soon as she determines which she/he cares for!. also a fireman can do that voluntarily, and easily have another job on the side!. If it is a small child telling you this, then still encourage her/him to pursue her/his dreams!. She/he will love you for it, now & later!. She/he can say "my mother supported/supports me" that means a lot to a child of any age!. :)Www@QuestionHome@Com I wouldn't give advice to my child on a career!. In fact I'd tell him/her that any job is great, and trully a gift!. The job that you believe is for you is the right one!. You dont need me to tell you which is right or better!. I wouldn't steer them in any direction!. Telling your child that they cant be someone is a disgrace!. Telling them they have to be someone in particular (like a doctor or lawyer) is just as disgraceful!. Tell your child that he/she should choose for themselves and when the time is right they'll have that right choice and they'll know when the time is right!. Www@QuestionHome@Com I would study this kid, see what makes the kid spark!. See how they react to certain things!. I will then tell the kid, "hold on little buddy, lets find out!." Then take them into places or situations where it has the thing they want to be!. Depending on their sparks, interesting or strong suits, you can make your own recommendation and from their build your child's focus, imagination and interest towards that given subject!. If they're kiddies then let them dream on & maybe try to be supportive!. If they're heading into college, do some research about it together!. Take a trip to a local college, find professors or instructors from the field, & get to know the more about it!. Regardless of how you proceed, try to be understanding (not necessarily supportive)!. Don't flip out on them!. Keep your cool!. So tell them to if they choose that one to have rich friends who get real jobs and can support them!. As for fireperson, I would say that it is a noble but dangerous job!.Www@QuestionHome@Com My son told me when he was 6 that he wanted to be an Astronaut and when he came back to earth he wanted to be a garbage man!. I told him he could be whatever he wanted to be as long as he was happy!.
