given the appalling state of most peoples personal finances and the average personal debt figures for the UK and the US i'd be rather surprised if more than a select few are in the position to say they plan for the future!.

i think "piss it up the wall" is many people's attitude to the future these days!. the concept of delaying gratification for future security is almost unheard of!.

i personally could have a fun future I haven't yet screwed it up don't intend to if i can avoid it!.

The question should not be challenging!. You should plan sensibly for the future - it is a sign of the decadent times that you consider the question challenging -

People remain alive for their whole lives and most don't die tomorrow but a lot are living like they'll die tomoorow!. I predict a lot of unhappy very poor old people are going to be regretting not preparing at all for old age!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

The essence of the question, however, as I see it is whether one should grab a benefit as of now at the cost of the future or refrain now to reap it in future!. Even though future is uncertain, it is human nature to stake the immediate present to secure the long term future!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!. had it not been so, I would not have gone to school instead of playing games in my backyard!. This in fact is the key difference between humans and animals!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!. humans react to the uncertainty of the future rather by current endeavor to secure it and bring an element of surety into it, than abandon it to chance or providence or ignore it as uncontrollable!. That we can and do plan ahead is what positively differentiates us humans from other inferior beings!! Sacrifice my happiness now for the future!. Because as I grow older I see that I get tired faster, my body hurts when I over exert myself, and I can see that I won't always be able to run with the big dogs!. Of course there are certain doses of happiness that are needed in order to care about tomorrow, and those are every bit as important as my future's welfare!. It sounds like if you choose happiness now it won't last very long but if you choose future it sounds like it will last much longer
