Yes just no one there to hear it!Www@QuestionHome@Com

When a tree falls in the forest, the sound it generates is a side effect of the action of the fall of the tree!. But you should understand that it is just one effect!. What about the other things effected by the fall of a tree!. All the microscopic level beings depended on that tree, our atmosphere, the whole jungle and even the whole world!. All these get some sort of an effect from this cause!. Sound unheard can not be considered not to exist!. What makes sound so different from other effects of a falling tree!? Is it simply because we human beings can directly feel it!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

If you are talking to a group of people, does that mean you're communicating!? No, because the act of communicating means another person is present and taking part in what you have to say !.!.!.but you're still talking!.

If a tree falls, does it make a sound!? it doesn't matter if there's noone around to hear it, it still makes a sound!. Sound is not defined by what you hear or who is there to hear itWww@QuestionHome@Com

I have never understood why this question is so famous or so commonly used in philosophy!. Of course a tree makes a noise when it falls, regardless of who is there to hear it!. Sound is not contingent on there being an audience!.

Maybe there is something to this question I don't get but I see things really rather laterally!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

This existential question questions the nature of our perception of the world: Is it all real or just some feet of our imagination that we find a world full of things and people, their sights and sounds!? Could we be imagining all this, an imagination so self-fulfilling, a dream so convincing, or simulation so close to reality that we begin to take actual reality as a dream, our thoughts, notions and ideas!?

I used to wonder when I was a little if the world is still there round the corner I have just turned along, then, sometimes, I used to quickly glance back, in a peek-a-boo manner to see if people are still going about their business as usual, or if they have gone motionless!.

There is also possibility in the mind that may be instead of this world being within our imagination, we are inside someone’s imagination, that we all are figments of some dream that someone is having, as creatures of fancy, or that this world is a mega scale computer simulation and we are merely subroutines of the programme!.

The human mind is rife with speculative thoughts like these, to questions our perception our reality, what is real!. Is the world exist because of I do, or am I just one insignificant part of the world!. If we believe that the world exists despite us being its active or passive observes, independently, and that it will go on existing even when we have ceased to be, when some tree fall in some distant forest then it does make its natural sound even thought there is no one witness that sound, then there are possibilities that we also believed in God, as the creator and the ultimate cause of everything, that He is not merely a manmade concept, but the reality!.

The facts of this questions actually go even further than this to bring home some further realisations, as if we believe that the world exists independently of us, that all this is not merely an imagination, then we can also ascertain most assuredly that we too exist independent of all things, however related and connected to the rest – the very thought whose over-accentuation once again makes us question the reality of our perception!.

considering the new scientific date which suggests that everything around us is only a one of many possibilities in a state of flux until we notice it and bring it into reality!. the real question should be!. Does the tree exist at all!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

theres animals around and these animals can hear the noise so therefore it does very much make a sound!.

unless you foolishly attempted to remove all animals from a forest, and then let the tree fall, which you would not succeed in, which brings me back to my first statementWww@QuestionHome@Com

The point of the question is not whether or not it makes a sound (which can't be determined if there is no-one or nothing to hear it) but whether the sound can have an existence without being heard!.

No!. Sound is not generated but only received!. The silent sound waves will radiate away until they simply dissipate unless an ear of some sort receives them!. Could even be the tiniest bug in the world, hiding under a leaf - then, yes, there will be a sound!. :)Www@QuestionHome@Com

No - it only makes a vibration, it requires a listener to turn the vibrations into sound!.

More importantly - if a man says something and there is no woman there to hear him - is he still wrong!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

Yes, that question causes college professors all over the world to create doubt in their students!. Then they take that doubt and exploit their weak minds and turn them into Liberals!. It makes a sound!. Faith and simple math teaches us this!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Yes and no, there is more than one definition of sound!.
One is the sensation of hearing and the other is describing sound waves!.
So both!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

The falling tree makes sound waves, but you might not classify it as a sound until it reaches an auditory sense organ!.

Please remember to pick a best answer!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

No!. It pierces the space time continuum, becomes a god, and roams the cosmos decapitating people!.

Or at least that's how it goes in the story I wrote about it!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Sound is the air pressure changing in the eardrums!. So if there are no ears around!.!.!. it is just a change in air pressure!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

yes but the sound is irrelevant-no one notices it and cares about it so in the end the sound it makes is not importantWww@QuestionHome@Com
