(To me) Art is the manifestation of a perspective!.

"Good art" to me is anything that is groundbreaking or (at its time) changed the perspective of what art could be!.

Not necc!. avante gardge!. Even a Italian Renaissance piece that shows an incredible shadow and three dimensions would be an example of art!. At the time, it was showing a new perspective compared to that of the medieval era!. To evaluate the whole spand of evolving perspective is what art is to me!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

There are may ways of coming at this but: Art is an expressive response to stimuli; visual, auditory, tactile or otherwise which causes one to produce a creative, thoughtful work!.

The judgment of what is good art is dependent on the experience and knowledge of the viewer!. the more knowledge, the more one has to work with in evaluating what he/she sees or hears or experiences!. Simplifying it though, good art is whatever one likes, but is still based on some form of criteria for judgment!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

When art reflects and captures some instantaneous reality, whether it be something about people, an event, or a landscape, and when it is recognizable and has something that we can identify with, then that to me is art and talent!. This is especially so in portrait painting where the artist captures the likeness and personality of the person and the picture becomes almost real!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
