Question: Why are scientists considered more intelligent than classical compoers!?
The reason Im asking its because, my friend is an atheist!. He says that all the most intelligent people Einstein, Steven Hawkins ect, don't believe there is is God!.

The thing is, Beethoven believed there was something after life and a lot of other composers also believed there was something!.
I also know that there's is something as (this may sound crazy to some of you) my mum can astral project at will and I have nearly done it myself (I could just see my hands, but cant be bothered getting into that subject at the moment)!.

Anyway, thats the reason I want to know!.

Everyone has to answer that question for him/herself how to explain life, what gives it, what holds it together, what its point is, and what comes after!. It doesn't matter what scientists think, or composers feel, !.!.!. listen to your own truth regarding God, faith, religion!.
In terms of scientists being more intelligent than composers - who claims that!? It's comparing apples and oranges!. Logic and sequential reasoning vs!. intuitive, abstract arrangements of music - both require talent and skill that could be called "intelligent"!.!.!.!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Studies have shown a negative correlation between intelligence (usually represented either by IQ or level of education) and religiosity!. But it's not as though every atheist is more intelligent than every theist, nor is it reasonable to say, based on the evidence available, that there is a causal relationship between intelligence and religiosity!.

The same is true of scientists and composers!. It's possible that there's a tendency for one to be more intelligent than the other, although I've not found any sources to support that claim!. But certainly it is not the case that every scientist is more intelligent than every classical composer!. Those sorts of generalisations are never going to be accurate!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Well first let me correct your friend on one thing!. Einstein believed in a higher power (god) however, a lot of his beliefs were unconventional!. He would refer to what most people call god as "cosmic intelligence!."

I don't think any creditable source would say scientist are more intelligent than composers!. I believe that for the majority of society what perpetuates this kind of comparison is the fact that a scientist has a more practical job!. The fields "science" influences are immeasurable!. Now with a composer, I'd argue that they influence just as much!.!.!.but my view isn't the consensus!.

The key word is intelligent!. Scientist are much more cerebral than composers!. The vibration and rhythm patterns in music evokes emotions although the notes themselves are the result of a physical relationship!. They are pleasant to us because of our emotions!.

God also is an emotional response!. He fills the need of a benefactor, councilor and father-figure!. Scientist are not uniform in their belief!. For instance Einstein was very religious and believed firmly in God!. Most modern scientist do not because of things like this :The sun goes up and the sun goes down, while the moon paces it changes through its many phases!. All, without the aid or help of any being!.

Coming from someone who lives in the USA, people here tend to be very pragmatic and they tend to believe in numbers and logic rather than the abstract or the creative!. That is why a lot of people always tell you to become a doctor, a lawyer, or an engineer as opposed to a musician, an artist, or even an anthropologist--because the value of the latter jobs is questioned!. Your friend is wrong:

Science without religion is lame, religion without science is blind!.

Not (quantifiably) more intelligent, differently intelligent!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I find it no surprise you use physicists as your example of intelligent people!. This is because it's come to my understanding that physics is not so much a science, as it is mathematically based philosophy!. In that same vein, philosophy itself is more art than science!. Only those who can think beyond the constraints of what they are taught ever achieve the status of greatness!. The same as any great artist!.

So why do I say physics is mathematically based philosophy!. For several reasons!. First, physics is not truth!. How can I claim this!? Because it is not unified!. At present, approaching physics is much the same as if there were no numbers between ten and one hundred, but we still acted as if what we found before ten, and after one hundred, were true!. Physicists "know" the small scale, and they "know" the large scale, but they can't bring the two together!.

also, I don't believe numbers are the universal truth!. They are simply another language of explaining things!.

What physics is waiting for is the composer who can bring the harmony and the melody together!.

So do I consider scientists and the like more intelligent than artists!? No!. Because they are of the same creed!.

As for Astral Projection, I've done it once before!. Be careful, it's a dangerous thing!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

In the initial assumption, I don't agree that it is generally accepted that scientists are more intelligent than classical composers!. There are different kinds of intelligence!. Some are more "left brained" where the logic and problem solving are, some are more "right brained" where the creativity and imagination are!.

I am a laser systems engineer and an avid artist and poet!. I find my mind is equally inspired and energized by either form of thought!.

I suppose I could agree that more scientists are atheists than composers or artists, though that is arguable!.

As Bob Dylan once wrote, "Everyone has their own special gift, and you know this was meant to be true, if you don't under estimate me, I won't under estimate you!."

I have a whoile section on my website about religion!. It begins:

"Across the World are beliefs and values, Gods, Goddesses and Deities that we may not even know!. There are faiths that may be just as fundamental for those who practice them as they are superficial for those who do not!. Each may claim to be the singular truth!. Above all, do not condemn what you do not understand!." (-me)

I also have section there on astronomy, physics, optics and light!. It begins:

“I know that I am mortal by nature, and ephemeral; but when I trace at my pleasure the windings to and fro of the heavenly bodies I no longer touch the Earth with my feet: I stand in the presence of Zeus himself and take my fill of ambrosia, food of the gods!. “ (-Claudius Ptolemy)

Well I will answer your question in two ways!.

First I would be willing to wager that a well educated person would not claim that great scientist are more or less intellectual than great musicians!.
I say this because the term intelligence is understood to consist of various degrees of cognitive aptitude and that an individuals prowess in a specific area is not a rational measure of that individuals overall innate cognitive aptitude!.

Second a particular individuals beliefs is not a rational standard for making claims about reality!.
That is to say that simply because say Newton believed in god does not in any way prove or disprove that god is real!.
For example it may be true that you believe in god!.
But the only fact is that you do believe it is true not that god actually exists as the being you believe in!.
Believing something does not make it a fact and it does not allow one to make claims about reality!.
Most debates between atheist and theist do not clarify this!.
Is it a fact that god exists!?
If you claim it is a fact you should be able to prove it!.
If you claim that you simply believe god exists then you do not have to prove anything because it is a belief and beliefs may or may not be true but one thing they are not is fact!.
People can beleive whatever they like, but people believe things that are true and people believe things that are not true!.

God as word means different things to different people!.
Some defintions of the word god may be true but there is no way to prove or disprove that is fact or a reality!. That is fine though there is no way to prove alot of things that are generally accepted as reality!.
For example you can not prove that when you if you put something in a draw that it does not go into another dimension and return once you reopen the draw!.
We simply assume that what we put in draws stays there and does not go to another dimension but if it is only in another dimension when no one is looking then there is no way to prove that it goes to that dimension!.
Some definitions of god are self contradictory and so we can say that they simply are not true!.
But the main point I want to stress is that you do not claim that your belief in god proves that god is real!.
Just like your friends disbelief in god does not prove that god is not real!.
also for the record most famous scientists throughout history believed in a god or gods!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Einstein and Stephen hawking studied physics!. any studies of physics that are post einstein if you know as much about them as hawking and einstein did means you cannot believe in god, because you know certain truths that are in conflict with god existing!.

beethoven never studied quantum physics!. he studied music!. i'm not sure even if he studied much of newton!. newton i think started really to show evidence against god in a way!. but not the kind of proof like in einstein's day!. and now when we know even more about it someone like stephen hawking can't possibly believe in god!.

was einstein smarter than beethoven!? well maybe, and maybe not!. it doesn't really matter what matters is what you know!. not what you believe, not what you've read!. it is not sufficient to read einstein's theories, you need to know them in the sense that you realize why they MUST be!. smarter people can do that!. others can't others are limited to having either faith in science or faith in the bible!. but those that built science didn't build it on faith!. we can know their methods!. those that built the bible we know nothing about!.

there's some stuff that is possible some stuff that isn't the more profound knowledge of science you have the better you can be at identifying which is which!. and again i don't mean the memorization of scientific conclusions, but the knowledge of science!. the memorization of scientific conclusions though is the kind of faith that will get you to be more right, than the faith on other things!. but also some stuff calls itself science when it is not!.
