If you take out all the "deeper" aspects if life---religion, philosophy, intellect, opinion, etc!.---you're left with a cold truth: the science of human nature is to survive and reproduce!.
Scientifically speaking, I believe that humans have one prominent instinct: survival!.
Humans need food to survive, therefore they have "hunger" instincts!.
Humans need to defend themselves from harm, therefore they have "fight or flight" instincts!.
Humans need to reproduce in order to keep our race from dying out, therefore they have "sexual" instincts!.

I believe that these are man's primitive instincts; the cold, scientific interpretation of mankind!.

To satisfy our minds with a "deeper" meaning to life, we've embellished human existance with things like philosophy!.

So, I suppose Freud wasn't too terribly far-off in thinking that humans are "sex-driven" creatures, but he failed to recognize that we are also hunger- and self-preservation-driven creatures!.

But then there's the whole "sex and food are both forms of desire" debate!.!.!.but that's another story ;)

Freud was a brilliant man!. His analysis is very correct about the human species!. Besides sex, there is greed that will drive an individual!. And the one other thing that could drive a person, is love!. Love does not need to be associated to sex, because, well, sex can be lust or love!.

So yes, Freud was correct!. We just have other things, that can drive us to do things!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

The most inescapable animalistic instinct is the desire to have sex!. It is the singlemost important thing, for without it a species cannot survive!. So it overrides everything else!. Even if you were starving your sex drive would probably not be overly diminished!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
