Question: Why do people think that loneliness/depression isn''t as painful as starvation or cancer !?
Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
because people do not understand that physical and mental are both part of the greater whole!. They are both equally great pains, but in our society we are taught that mental reality and emotions are not as important as physical well-being!. Even though they are both extremely important for overall health!. There is even a scientific study that verifies that poor mental health leads to poor physical health, so they must both be treated as important!. Loneliness and depression are extremely painful mental anguishes!. They do not hurt only mentally, but physically as well!. I feel that the conditions you listed are all equally painful, severe depression can even lead to death!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

Others might not agree with me, but I think clinical depression is the worst kind of suffering and your body reacts negatively to your mental state as well!. You are trapped in your own misery and it seems like forever!. I can think of nothing worse than wanting to kill yourself 24/7!. I would choose cancer or starvation over that!. Now, either of those conditions PLUS depression would be even worse!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I think it is probably a simple matter of physical and mental!. Some people can't imagine being in great mental pain, but can imagine how terrible it would be to be starving, and decide that starving must be worse!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Maybe they cannot compare mental pain to physical pain but, I am sure that both can hurt A LOT, accordingly!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

physical and mental see the difference!?Www@QuestionHome@Com
