Question: Is suffering a prerequisite to philosophizing!?

I've always wondered this since I was about 12 years old!. I was born with serious heart problems and had to have open heart surgery when I was 5 months old and had to have 4 other surgical procedures done after that which really traumatized me because I could not walk until I was 4 and I was always frail and could not play sports with other kids!.
Luckily, I was quite clever and humourous so I had many friends but I was still different from average kids and I felt misunderstood at times and I liked to observe and read and listen to music and do research alone!. I also had to have painful spinal reconstructive surgery when I was 14 and to make matters worse, I was abused by my father psychologically, sexually, and verbally which was also full of suffering!.

Basically, I think that if I would have not had these experiences, I probably wouldn't think of bigger questions such as "Where did the universe come from, and does it have limit or is it infinite beyond human comprehension!?" !.!.!.and so on!.!.!.

So, yes I do believe that suffering is a DEFINITE prerequiste to phiolosophizing but maybe not the only one!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

It can be, many people suffer before they begin to try and stretch their minds and search for greater truths!. It is not the only prerequisite, but it is in fact one!. Www@QuestionHome@Com
