No, enlightenment is when you accept that whilst some things do not benefit you personally you have to accept them!. Enlightenment is when you accept that the "barriers" in your life are of your own or society's making!.
Enlightenment is when you embrace the fact that no matter how "enlightened" you may be you still have to work and "toe the line"!. The only true alternative is to be a beggar, no man can be truly enlightened whilst he has to work to live!. Knowing and "being" are diametrically opposed, enlightenment is therefore just a state of mind!. One may think one is, but in reality one cannot survive on enlightenment alone!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

It depends on which kind of englightenment you are talking about!. Neither of which involve putting barriers in your life!. Eastern Englightenment (Asian ideals, etc) believe in detaching from what you have in or to gain enlightenment!. They feel that you are most enlightened through observation: you gain knowledge from observation thus having a lesser liklihood of being fooled by the world around you!. They believe that if you are detached from everything, worldly possessions and people that, if attached can cause distress, cant harm you!.
Wester Enlightenment is all about reason vs!. passion!. They feel (like eastern enlightenment) that you can knowledge through, not only observation, but from logic!. If you can reason your way through things you therefore become enlightened!. Knowledge=enlightenment!.
Hope this helps! :)Www@QuestionHome@Com

The term enlightenment is actually usually associated with political and social movements such as the french revolution and the end of absolutist rule!. The basic outline of the enlightenment movement was to give freedom to the people, "Libetre, Fraternite, Egalite" if you must!. However if you wish to find the exact meaning and point of the enlightenment i would look up the views of philosophers such as John Locke, Thomas Hobbes, Montesquieu, Rousseau or Voltaire!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

That is at best a moot point since such "letting go" is not possible in any meaningful way!. No, enlightenment is to look at all things in the world, both animate and inanimate, large and small, and to be filled with the same feeling of wonder and awe in all of them, to sense the same mystery upwelling from each and every one!. We are all, at one time or another, briefly enlightened, and just as quickly we sink back into our customary darkness!.!.!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I don't think just let go of them, I think you use those as stepping stones to overcome obstacles!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

Not letting go creates barriers in life!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
