Doesn't this resemble Nostradamus' method for divination!? I don't recall anything about pebbles, but I think he used some kind of a bowl with water in it, and this he watched intently until he saw some vision in the water or on its surface it seemed!. Some people prefer to use a crystal ball!. Sufficiently studying anything long enough can yield some understanding of the world around it!.
