Question: What do you think of my wife's reason for not voting!?
She did not come out and say this, but I sort of reasoned it out of her!.
See, she is a practicing Catholic, I am a recovering one!. She favors Barack Obama and the Dems, but so many authorities in the church claim that Catholics cannot vote for a pro-choice candidate, and even suggested in the past, excommunicating John Kerry for this!. But she does not want McCain, and therefore simply can't find it in herself to cast a vote because of the spiritual voodoo reprocussion she fears of voting for Barack!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

The problem is this is a very close election, so I think there are two issues here!. John McCain supports stem cell research, we have to look more closely at each candidates views, Barak Obama does not support late term obortions, so how do we know who's better on this issue anyway (that is not a strong argument but I am getting there)!.

This is a close election, if a few people take her view, then by not voting for Obama they help McCain or by not voting for McCain they help Obama!. But we do not know who the least of the "bad" is!. But one has to vote with their heart because one must do that which they believe to be right!. We choose a candidate because we know that some people are going to have better lives as a result, assuming the economy is fixed and we decrease war activities!.

But if one is convinced in their heart that voting for either candidate will result in an indeterminate number of loss of life, to an unacceptable level, then one should vote for the lesser of two evils!. Not voting will probably lead to the greater of two evils in power!.

Could such a voting decision be too complex for our heart, not so!.

I do not know the answer to this question, I know that I and another relative of mine believes that abortion is murder and yet we are both voting for Obama!. We can not change the barbarism of our society!. Is it a sin to vote for a president who would not appoint strict constructionist judges to the court!? I do not know!. Neither candidate is going to do what needs to be done about the issue it seems, the reason why there are abortions is because people do not have proper family values, so there needs to be education so that people do not have sex before marriage (what kind of crazy idea is that!?) Even Palin does not seem to have been able to educate her daughter on that issue!.

Weather or not a president appoints strict constructionist judges makes little difference as millions of people do what they want!. The court does not impose their will in such a private matter, where people will be ungodly in their barbarism because they have no understanding!.

Consider the Biblical parable a father said to his first son go work in the fields today and he said ok father I go, but he did not go to work in the fields, the father also said to the second son go work in the fields today, and he said no I wont go, but then later he repented and he work in the fields!. Which of the two sons did the will of the father!? The point is what the candidates say is what they think we want to hear, but who will do the will of the father once they are in office!? Who will set a good example!? who has a proven good family life!? Such a one who is well proven will fit into God's ultimate plan, what ever that may be!.

It is ok for someone to vote right to life straight down the line!. If that is what your wife believes in most as being most important, then she must vote, because not voting in such a case is a vote against right to life!.

What I do is vote right to life for court and sherif positions, D for congressional positions and R for Senate positions, and whom ever I like for president, that way I cover all grounds guilt free (that is the method I would use if I don't have time to investigate everone's background)!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

The Catholic Church does not tell its members to refrain from voting for a pro-choice candidate!. The Church does remind us to keep those matters in mind when we vote, but it does not!.!.!. I repeat, does not!.!.!. tell us who to vote for, or not to vote for!.

If your wife is very Pro-Life, then she is right to refrain from voting for somebody who does not support her belief!.

There are many people who refuse to vote for either candidate because they do not feel that either one of them is qualified or desirable, as a President!. This is their right!.

However, she might decide to vote for a third-party candidate!. It is pretty widely believed, however, that this is a wasted vote because the electoral college is bent towards this two-party system!.

I think that it is not up to you to decide whether or not your wife should vote!. And if you are wanting her to vote for YOUR candidate, just so you can have two votes!.!.!. that is out of line!. You get one vote!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

That is kind of wrong, seems like her religious practices seem to overtake all of her ideas, even when they shouldn't!. I myself am not a product of any religious group, and this is why!.

I hate politics all together, talking smart like they know everything, when in reality all they know is money!. This is why I will not vote when I am eligible)Www@QuestionHome@Com

Wow!.!.!.there are still people who listen to the Catholic church!? Seriously, there are quite a high number of Catholics in this country who are pro-choice, who use contraception, who have sex before marriage, etc!.

Besides, the Catholic church isn't going to be in the polling booth with her!. (At least, one would hope not!) Voting is, and always should be, a matter of conscience!.

THAT IS SO SHOCKING!

because issues of church and state should always be fully intertwined to the point that people are terrified to have their own thoughts and take actions that as individuals, they believe in!.

I didn't realize how accurate the Golden Compass was!.!.!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

If she herself is Pro-life, fine, don't vote for a Pro-choice candidate!. But if her only reason for changing her vote is because "the church" told her too, then she's giving the church too much power!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Since when do we go to church for a "political guidance"!? I think your wife is wrong and shouldn't be listening to a priest that influences in any time, about your political preferences !Www@QuestionHome@Com

she is one of the reasons why we have Bush running this country!.!.!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
