I read in a news that there's a restaurant in Japan that's using two monkeys to serve as waiters!. One hands out towels for people and other takes food orders!. They get few soybeans as a "tip"
Are we headed for whole group of apes and monkeys serving humans in the future!? Is this ethical!? Is it slavery!?Www@QuestionHome@Com Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: Ethically I don't think this is ANY different then having trained dogs in movies, in the circus, or for that matter any animals in cages at the zoo!. Slavery - NO - Don't be naive to think that animals have "rights" beyond freedom from creul punishment!. Don't think they are being "repressed" by man!. If you want to use that argument then we should release all animals to do what they would normally do in nature!. No more cute puppies as pets, no more horses to ride or kittens to cuddle either!. Please don't fall into the tree-hugging liberal stance that all living things, no matter their position in nature, have rights that we must protect!. Why would this be considered 'slavery' or unethical, any more than using dogs to track criminals!? I think its just that is a) a bit unusual and b) monkeys are a little more like us than a donkey, so it gathers more attention!.
