Question: Morality question: Stealing vs Cheating!?
Okay so this situation happened to me about two years ago!. I was on a study abroad trip for two weeks!. During the trip my friends and I created a game where we would see who could steal the most bar glasses and ash trays from bars and clubs around Europe!.

People in the school condemned me for stealing, saying that it was wrong and that I was hurting the business!. The same people who looked down on me for stealing, cheated on their respective partners multiple times during the trip!.

I found it very hypocritical for them to talk about the morality of my actions (stealing glasses) and not even bat an eyelash at cheating!.

So my question who is, well I guess to simplify it, who is more evil!? Me for stealing promotional material at a bar!? Or the people who judged me and cheated!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

both actions are evil!.!. but for the question of morality, you got to look at the intentions of the doer!. Anything harm done intendedly to others is sin, on your side, you didn't intend to hurt anyone!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

The Philosophy of Morality!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.

True stealing, is when one steals from oneself!.
That is called theft!
That is also called carelessness!.
That is when one is living a lie!.
~~~~~
Cheating is when one lies to ones-self!.
Cheating brings such sorrow and hardship into a human beings life, and it often enters unrecognized!.
The one thing that man cannot steal or cheat is death!
Give this some thought, and reflect upon this for a time!.
Stealing and cheating are greatly misunderstood!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
2 wrongs!. Remember, they don't make a right!.
I guess just on the basis to error is human people shopuldn't judge you regardless if they cheated or not!.
However by social law, you did commit a crime, they did not!.
Ps I love stealing pint glasses, eight balls, forks, spoons, salt and pepper shakers, and napkin dispensors!. Especially the eight balls!. And though it is wrong, it is usually expected and compensated for when deciding the price of drinks and admission!. They business owners would rather you came in and spent a bunch of money while walking away with a $2 beer glass than not come in at all!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
One doesn't relate to the other!. You are both guilty and the scales don't match one up against the other!. What you did can be fixed by returning the items!. If you want to feel vindicated then do that!. You'll amaze the rightful owners and feel better than you think!. If you want to keep them then mail the owners a check!. Once again, they will be gobsmacked!.
Your friends cannot repair what they did!. They have broken faith with people that trusted them!. It says something about their character!. At present you still have the swag you took!. That speaks to your character!. What you do from here will be your true reflection!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
Sin is sin, wrong is wrong!.!.!.!.!.period!. People label it and say one is worse than the other but in all actuality, it's all bad! The one who will essentially judge it and say "bad girl", doesn't look at one less or more than the other!. Unfortunately, I can't judge you so I can't say you were better than they were or they were better than you because what all of you did was not good!. It's wrong to steal and it's wrong to cheat!.
BTW- no one can judge you!. You know right from wrong and you can make sure to keep a clear conscience by doing the right thing as often as you can!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
You stealing could have possibly caused a financial hardship of the places that you stole from!. The others cheating on their respective partners did nothing but hurt themselves!. Therefore, you are inherently more evil because you potentially hurt outside people!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
Cheating has nothing to do with being a thief!.!. Taking things that dont belong to u is totally wrong!.!. the owner had to pay for all that stuff !. Geezz!.
if you feel better telling the ladies their men cheated on them !.!.then tell them--your all wrong!!!!!!!!!Www@QuestionHome@Com
Depends on the situation!.
Either one MAY be acceptable in the correct set of circumstances!.
As for there genuine "morality"!? Neither has a greater or lesser value than the other!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
So my question who is, well I guess to simplify it, who is more evil!?
well!.!. "MORE"!.!.!.is to wavey!!!!.!.
I say you were both having FUN!!!!.!.!. forget the rest!!Www@QuestionHome@Com
I think that they were more wrong!. Not that it is ok to steal bar glasses!.!.!.but it certainly isn't the worst offense and no where near as bad as cheating!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
They're both deceitful just like sin is sin!. Whose to say the worse of the 2 evils!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
No sin is greater than another!. Both are in the 10 commandments!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
the people who judged you,,,ash trays and stuff like that is expected to be taken!.!.!.lolWww@QuestionHome@Com
Both of them are bad!.!.!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
they're just all idiots, including you!.
except i even think what they did is worse!. Www@QuestionHome@Com
Interesting point! Ethically speaking, you and they were both wrong!. However, legally speaking, you were more in the wrong!. You could have been arrested for what you did but they of course wouldn't for hooking up!. I know that this was just a game to you but (and I know I sound anal)do you know how much you cost these bars and clubs!? You are not the only ones that want these free "souvenirs"! I'm sure they spend thousands if not more every year replacing what was taken!. Next time, just BUY a tee-shirt or shot glass from the bar or the town you're visiting! Both you and those cheaters should feel bad!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
