Question: How does the Greek philosophy compare to ours today!? Why do we study history!?
"Our way is to consider each separate thing alone by itself: the Greeks always saw things as parts of a whole, and this habit of mind is stamped upon everything they did"- Edith Hamilton

Do you accept her opinion about how people see the world today!? Do you think Americans view their role as citizens as a fundamental part of their identity!? What was the Greek's philosophy on sharing!?

"The absence of romance in my history will, I fear, detract somewhat from its interest; but if it be judged useful by those inquirers who desire an exact knowledge of the past as an aid to the interpretation of the future, which in the course of human things must resemble if it does not reflect it, I shall be content"- Thucydides

Judging from the quotation, what did Thucydides believe was the purpose of studying history!? When did the Greeks study their past and learn from it!? When did Americans study the past and learn from it!? Www@QuestionHome@Com
