However, you used the term "baby" which has human connotations!. Technically it is not viable outside the womb and therefore it is still considered a part of the mother and not a separate individual!. So it is a mass of living cells!. While it is accepted that it is living at conception, at what point is it given status as a human being!? They are two different things!. If you support the position that it should be given human status at conception because it is alive, then you are forced to concede that 3/4 of all human beings are killed when the embryo fails to implant in the uterus and is expelled from the body naturally!. It only makes sense that society accept some point between conception and birth as the point when human status is bestowed!. It was the Roman Catholic Church who "amended" the scriptures so that unborn children would have souls from the moment of conception!. For me it is when the baby's heart first beats!. However within government, in the UK, they say that it is at 22 weeks as after that you can not have an abortion as it is considered murder, therefore the baby must be alive at this point!.
