Question: Why am I always being told to succeed in life is to make money!?
I'm 16, and I got into trouble at school the other day (I'm horrible with being ordered around and wrongfully accused of things I had no part in by strangers) Now, I had a long debate with my Adviser and Principal!. They were saying how if I kept up my foolishness (which was a point to state that the school's rules and administration have so many holes in them) I won't make good money as I grow older and succeed in life!. I was IRRITATED beyond irritated when they made that statement!. And it wasn't only one ADULT figure who is suppose to exemplify a great person, it was two school leaders!. Why is it that adults are always telling me to have a decent life, you need to make good money!? This is terrible, and it puts so much stress on kids that it can literally ruin their life!. What has education in this country come to!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

I completely agree!. And i'll tell you this John!. It actually corrupted me also, when i graduated from high school, to the point where i ended up wasting a year in the wrong major!. Complete waste of time!. I wasnt even interested in the subject, but thought i could make some money!. All that was on my mind was money, money, money, BMW, decent salary, money!. like a zombie!. Now I wish I had that year back!. I am slightly behind in credits, and have to do summer school just to catch up!. But one thing good was that I found my true interest now!. also, I know how you feel about the whole ordered around and accused thing!. Especially when its by stupid teachers or moron school officials!. You really sound like me when I was in high school lol!. I was always a bit rebellious in spirit, although I was a good kid overall!. Never really got into major trouble!. But I would do some rebel things sometimes, if there was some stupid policy or rule I didn't like!. And I was always aware of the stupidity of 90% of the school's administration!. Not so much the teachers, but everyone else who worked there!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Most people go after money in life, they have it backwards!. You do what you are good at, and really enjoy, money will follow!. It would be helpful at that age to understand about your personality as well!. Google Association of Psychological type and discover yourself!. have fun in life and help others along the way!. well their heart is in the right place!. You do need money!. How much is largly dependant on what kind of life you want!. a monk won't need what a Hollywierd star might want or need!. IF you want a simple life, have one!. But high paying jobs have better benifits and lifestyles!. I am what people call poor these days!. I have wiped my hind end with 100 dollar bills, eaten out of dumpsters!. Ridden in limos and walked!. Lived in mansions and cardboard boxes!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

lol, welcome to the puritan work ethic distorted beyond all recognitionWww@QuestionHome@Com

You're absolutely right, John!. So many people really do believe that money is the way to happiness!. It's not!. To be a success, work at a job you love!. Care about your family!. Try to learn something new everyday!. Don't worry what your neighbor parks in his driveway, or what the latest technology is!. Do what you love!. If you make enough to live on, you're a success!.
I also agree that kids are very stressed out!. People in general are stressed!. Life passes quickly!. Enjoy it!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Two annoying reasons: One, if you aren't told to exceed, you will fall short of enough!. Unfortunately, in today's world, if you aren't greedy, you won't earn what you really deserve--or at least unless they are told to do so (There's that ordering around debacle)!. Two, it's a reliable yardstick!. The true measure of success is whether or not something "works," and a person's life cannot be measured by how many efforts to accomplish varied and different things resulted in desired effect!. Money (the ability to live large, cover your bills, pay for your social responsibilities, etc) can be counted!. How many repairs of that fence "worked!?" How many dollars do you have in savings!? It's a yardstick that people can use to compare to other people's success!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

Well John anyone can exist day to day!.
But what is it you want out of life!.
I was never a really bad kid either, but had my share of trouble!.
As I got older I always thought as long as I worked hard life would be easy!.
Life is NEVER how you predict it will be, no matter how smart you think you are!.
You can do a lot more with money than you can without it, don't believe the day-dreamers who tell you it's enough just to be a good person!.
You will find out just how hard life is, how much it sucks, without a good education, without money!.
Life isn't a Disney movie, there is no happy ending for the misunderstood kid, only thoughts of suicide and "What ifs"!.

What really gets me is ANYONE saying" Money doesn't bring happiness"!.
That is the most contrived, thoughtless thing to say to anyone!.
Try saying that to a homeless guy, then say it to a rich guy!.
Both will say "I'd rather be rich a miserable, then poor and miserable"!.
If you happen to find that one person who's rich and miserable, chances are he'll be that way rich or poor!.
It is a moot point!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
