Do you think/know you exist, or do you only want to believe that you do!. Anything as meaningless as life is pointless!. It's like it doesn't exist at all!.

Do I sound insane to you!? cause I'm not!. Might be, but I am 100% right 75% of the time!.

The "self" is a mythological construct!. "I" (and I use the term loosely) perceive things through a "hole" in the universe called consciousness!. Consciousness has a way of splitting hairs all the time, so instead of seeing the "world as it is" I see black and white, day and night, wrong and right, and I don't even realize these are constructs!.

Life is not actually pointless just because it has no real actors on stage!. Even fictional characters can take themselves seriously, and endeavor to accomplish things!. The substance of things is less important than their perceived value!.

"I" experience things, and value them!. That is so whatever you might think of me, and whether or not I exist!.

You might call this "I value, therefore I exist" except I am not denying my non-existence (as such) but defending my "value!."Www@QuestionHome@Com

Then who was doing the thinking so as to opine in your lack of possible existence!?

AS Descartes said, "you are thinking, even if you are doubting so therefore you are!" However, if you follow the teachings of the Buddha, then there is no "you" to consider existence!.

I strongly disagree with the Cartesian view of "I think, therefore I am!." The act of thinking does little to prove that there is a fixed personality that exists!. Thoughts arise and dissolve in the same way that bodily sensations do!. Thinking proves nothing!.

That said, I think it's naive to say that nothing exists, and that everything is an illusion!. I can best describe my view by suggesting that the world contains no "things", but rather various impermanent "happenings!." I can most certainly assert that me, you, and everyone you know are a happening with a consciousness, volitional capabilities, perceptive abilities, feelings/emotions, and matter!. A "self", though, I think is non-existent!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I have good reason to think you exist, but I can't prove that you exist as a mind-independent person or object!. You could very well be a projection of my own imagination!. You could be something I conjured up as a means of escape!. I have no real reason to think this, but now that you've told me so, it's nearly impossible for me to prove you wrong!. If you do not exist you cannot do anything, and since thinking is a form of doing, you exist!. Even if you are deceived about your existence, you still need to exist to be deceived!.
