Question: Does honesty have to be hurtful!?
Without a doubt, honesty is the best policy yet many appear to understand the practice of the same as beating others about the head and ears with a rather large stick or that it is to be avoided at all possible costs!.

Can honesty truly be honest without being blunt, harmful, hurtful and cruel!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

"Honesty without sensitivity is brutality!."

Yes, I also believe that honesty is the best policy, but without a person's highest of intentions, which to me should include, compassion and sensitivity, a person could do more harm than good!.

What is the motive behind the honesty!? If the motive is anything but loving and peaceful, NOT from what you believe the person "needs" to hear, because we do not know what is best for anyone other than ourselves, then the answer will come from ego and the design will be in favor of the person giving the "honesty", therefore, it will not be truth but coming from a painful place that will spread more pain!.

If we take a few moments and think why we feel a need to "be honest" with someone, then we can find the better, more loving way to speak with them!.

Real honesty may not be the very best policy all the time!. That can be too hard core!. Gentle honesty is more the way to go with delicate subjects!. Painful subjects can be soften by taking tact and empathy into account!. The general message can still be put forward but the grueling details and personal attacks don't need to be expounded upon and beaten into the ground!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Yes!. Sometimes honesty can be brutal, but one must occasionally hurt to heal, isn't it!? I think it is better to remain silent in most situations rather than honest (but NEVER be dishonest), but at times honesty is necessary to get closure, or make a clean break with a festering situation!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

In some instances yes but there will always be a way to b honest!. Honesty indeed gives relief to the person telling the truth!. Truth will set you free!. The burden you may be carrying is a way to reveal the truth!. That's the beauty of truth!.
