Very few people are capable of being independent;
it is a privelege of the strong!. And whoever tries it,
however justified, without having to, proves that
he is probably not only strong but bold to the point
of complete recklessness!. For he walks into a labyrinth;
he increases a thousandfold the dangers which are inherent
in life anyway!. And not the smallest of his dangers is that
no one can witness how or where he loses his way, falls
into solitude, or is torn to pieces by some troglodytic minotaur
of conscience!. When such a man perishes, it happens so far
from human understanding that other men have no feeling for it,
no fellow feeling!. --- F!.N

Philosophy has taught me so much about life and people!. I've only studied three philosophers so far, but I think so differently about everything now!. Philosophers are just so wise, and are incredibly brilliant in terms of figuring out the state of nature!. All of their ideas are so interesting and I can actually relate them to the world!. Its positively fascinating! I really enjoy learning about John Locke's view of the state of nature!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

i'm learning with that goal in mind - to share more effectively , so everything just about that philosophy teaches me i wish to share!. but i'm not traipsing around multiple philosophers on a philosophology expedition - i'm expanding my practical understanding of a specific evolutionary metaphysics!. i'm over my head with life (as all should be) and you need a good metaphysics to stop you running away with yourself and devalueing the experience entirely at a higher level by diluting it with irrelevancies and poor actions -you have to keep yourself on the path!. and given good paths lead so beautifully where they do - how can you wish anything but to share - you can't want otherwise!

i'm 'flip- me-backwards' inspired by the potential of branches of philosophy it's real inspiration it's now and that's not going to be changing any time soon - do not be dragged down by those who refute the idea of passion and wisdom being engendered by philosophy!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Hello,

(ANS) Only that philosophy is "the science of wasting time" in the pursuit of stupid & irrelevant questions!. Most philosophical questions are either related to ethics or morality or religion again most of these have or can easily be answered, you cannot reinvent sunlight!.

**Frankly, I couldn't give a bag of spanners for how many fairies can be fitted on the head of a pin nor how many camels will fit through a needle's eye!.

**Most ordinary people are more concerned about how to survive through each day or make a living or pay their ever increasing mortgage or clothe their kids or pay their gas & electricity bill!.

**I seriously doubt you will find much inspiration through philosophy, you will either end up with a bad head ache, migraine or go stark raving mad!.

**I class philosophy in the same group as God & religion utter twaddle & non sense which shouldn't be taken seriously for a second or any more!.

there's no one correct way to approach a situation!.

each person is entitled to an opinion, and yet the differences are what make conversation a delight; if we were all the same we'd have nothing to talk about and so diversity should be encouraged!.

we are all ants in the cosmic sugar bowl, in being so we are all equal and therefore it shouldn't be up to one person to determine the fate of the masses!.

(i make it up as i go along, but really, studying philosophy was one of the best things i have done, even though it was just a course that i had to take, it is probably the ONLY course that i actually benefited from!)

I have been all over the board on my philosophical journey!. I have been a pessimist, and a rationalist!. Even tried to be a communist, and I have found them all wanting!. If I had to sum up my life's philosophy into a single nugget of truth I would say this,

If you don't like where you are, hold on, the best is yet to come!Www@QuestionHome@Com

My partner did philosophy at uni and I used to read some of the books - and enter into soem of the debates!.

Gilbert Ryle had an effect on me and for a while we both experimented with language - It was really interesting - We stopped because we got out of contact with the outside world but I have a lingering sense of communication changes being a good way forward spiritually!.

One of our experiments was to say nothing that wasn't absolutely necessary and after a week I was really light hearted!.

Alan Watts too taught me about looking in a different way about assumptions!. I have always been a bit free of the box as I wasnt very well socialised and have mental health difference - he taught me that it was an asset rather than a shame Www@QuestionHome@Com

Philosophy is teaching me that there are different opinions to a subject, and by listening carefully to each of them I may reach a better understanding of the subject in cause!.

One thing I know, there are no absolute truths!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Wisdom comes from all sources sometimes very unlikely ones if we are truly blessed!.
This wisdom gives us the understanding to discriminate from momentary fleeting truths to universal everlasting truths!.
These truths allow us to realise ourselves more clearly leading to being blessed again!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I agree with the other answers!.!.!.the value of philosophy lies not in knowledge or insights so much as in the actual philosophical attitude, of open-mindedness and examination of concepts!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

It taught me that perception is reality and reality is perception!. With philosophy we are creating our own world- concept by concept!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
