Not necessarily, but usually they're enlightened to a limited extent in a narrow range of areas and are excited about it!. The more they learn, the more they'll realize how much they still don't know!. Maybe some arrogance is in evidence!. Some people with that attitude to themselves can change as they grow, while others are hopeless, sad to say!.

Generally the more enlightened people become, the less bells they ring about it!. Rather, they use their insight to be helpful and informative!. The pompous ones become increasingly despicable!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Just because a person says their enlightened doesn't mean that they necessarily are!.

There are expressed words, and then there's action, authentic being!. True, authentic reflection of person matching with words (or the "label") of what was they, or another, said they are!.

If a person increased and elevated in the sense of being more educated and aware to aspect of soul, spirit, etc!. !. !. !. Than in that case they'd be more enlightened than they were moments, months or years ago!.

When a person says their "enlightened" what they might be expressing is that they've come into higher soulful and spiritual understanding!. (i!.e!. higher education level, higher skill level, higher awareness level, etc!.)

To be "fully" enlightened while still in human form!. That I don't think can be!. In realm of true, full enlightenment a person is fully of Spirit!.!.!.no physical human form!.

It’s an interesting question!. I would say it’s like the Zen ‘question’ – ‘What is the sound of one hand clapping’!. When you know the answer no one else does, at least not among those who are still trying to figure it out!. So!.!.!. let’s look at the ‘enlightened one’, I would suggest that true enlightenment needs no expression, why should anyone need to say that they have reached a point ‘beyond the norm’ if they truly have!? It’s self evident truth to me that a so called ‘enlightened’ person would never express this apparent difference with the rest of humanity, it simply proves that they wish they were enlightened!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I don't think anyone in the world is truly enlightened, though some have much more wisdom than others!. So if anyone claims to be enlightened they certainly are not!.

But if I'm wrong and there _are_ those who are enlightened, then I would expect that they wouldn't need to advertise it, just flow with it!. They'd certainly not brag about it! So, again, if anyone claims to be enlightened, they certainly are not!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Not at all! There is an incredibly long tradition of being open about the stages of awakening within the Buddhist tradition!. Our apprehension to talk about enlightenment comes from Asian cultural traditions that say it's impolite to do so!.

Another reason people are apprehensive to talk about enlightenment or claim to be awakened is because the models from which we judge awakening are a mess! How are we supposed to be able to gage real progress without accurate, realistic standards!? There are some really good maps out there, but unfortunately they aren't expounded on by as many teachers as they should be!.

Each time, when the "Light" settles, and we can both see and understand more, after a time we begin to realize that our Path/Way is!.!.!.!.!. infinite!.

I live my life by the mantra of "All I know is that I know nothing"!.

By realizing that I will NEVER be truly "Enlightened" keeps me searching for knowledge in every part of my lives!.!.!.

Research is me first love and when I stop actively looking to expand my mind, I will know it is time to die!.

Those that say the are enlightened have given up the constant quest for advancement and they are the least knowledgeable of us all!.

Being enlightened is an on-going process!. It doesn't just happen and is done!. I have never known anyone to claim that they are enlightened, though!. Saved, yes!. Millions of people have been saved and trumpeted it from the roof tops!. I avoid 'em!.
