Well it depends on what is being given or received, surely!?
Receiving a stash of money is totally different to giving it away, but giving a hug is kind-of the same as receiving one when you're in the middle of actually doing it!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

!.
To me there is nothing to compare when it comes to joy!.

Joy, whether giving or receiving, is what it is for that shared moment(s)!.

Now, the "motive" behind the giving or receiving might put some difference between the two!. Yet, when there's a motive to joy then the joy is then conditional!. Conditional joy is not authentic joy!. So that would rule that out!.

Joy to you!. !. !.:~)!.

Good question!. Is it better to give than receive!?

The mystics preach selflessness, giving!. But under these terms everyone could just give to the same one person or few individuals, which doesn't sound like it would work out very well!. Pretty much what we have now in fact!.

But if everyone were to receive, then that might actually mean something!.

Consider enjoyment to be an entitlement, you may not be happy all the time and people may not get enjoyment in equal measure, but everyone is entitled to some, and that at least is worth living for, that is hope!.

So I'd say that it is better to receive!.

Internally, the joy from giving is a "Godly" feeling!. The joy of receiving is more of a materialistic "greed" feeling!. They are inherently different, although they can be perceived as the same because they are usually the result of two people interacting on a mutual basis!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
