The mind is the most cunning creation of man!. It is completely false in the state it is in currently!. You must decondition it to use it properly!. Let it go completely only then can you use it!. As of now Mind is your master calling itself ultimate when you are truly the ultimate!. The true self cannot observe itself because it does not need a self!. Only the ego needs a self!. Fan of the ego or not everyone has one!. It is one of your chief defense mechanisms!.
Of course, we want to be liked!. In the distant past it was an essential to preservation of the species!.
What you must start doing in your own mind is asking how this situation is encroaching on my core values!. If it goes against your values then find out how to gracefully decline what ever is being offered!.
The second you find you are being manipulated call that person on it!. If you are being asked to do something you don't want to do say "no"!.

Because most humans are afraid!. They are afraid that if they are not liked then such and such things will happen!. That is why they try so hard to be liked and even change what it is they like to conform with what the masses like!. For example; fashion, electronics, books, and games!. A lot of people are afraid to let others know their true opinions!. They will be discriminated against because they don't fit in!. People want to be accepted but they don't want to be pointed out!. It dates back into history, if you said such things you could be a traitor or a witch!. Basically, we still think if we go against certain masses something will happen to us!. It mostly goes back to our early formative years and the way our parents conditiones us with their responses to our behaviour!. Psychopaths for example have no care for other people or their approbation, only concerned with their own wants and desires with a total disregard to other peoples needs - they have often been brutalised in childhood with no kindness shown!. You have been brought up in a home with love and affection which has been reiforced when you act well and rejected when you feel bad!.
Attachment and belonging are an important part of early childhood for the protection of the young and separation when adult is not always total!. Neither should it necessarily be as being part of a group increases the chances of emotional and physical wellbeing of an individual - giving more protection aganst adversaries and opponents!.
man is not really a silitary animal - naturally he would live in family groups!.

On a macro level we need each other to accomplish great things!. It took lots of ppl to make the toilet flush !.!.!. & still to this day, employs many !.!.!. not to mention the roads needs, administrative ppl needed, food providers to the utilites!.
