I'm not sure your question can be properly answered, since there are so many beliefs and opinions as to the nature of god!. (And of course, some people believe in several gods, and others in no gods!.) If people could agree on who or what god was, we wouldn't have all these different religions and denominations within each religion!. But since gods reside completely within the realm of speculation, we really can say nothing at all definitive about him/her/it/them!.

White European men have always had the position of power over the recent ages, so these men created god in their own image, hence god is referred to as a He!.

It's the same with Jesus who is white and looks like a western-European, not a dark skinned middle-eastern (do you really think Jesus was as white as your average white guy!?)!.

Had women been in power, then god would be referred to as She!. Had dolphins evolved, then their image of god would be a dolphin, not a human!.

Yes, Most mainstream religions, I think, hold that God is genderless!. He is beyond categorical understanding!. However, his/her/its expression does imply genderlike tendencies!. In Christianity God (the blessed trinity), in the bible and in tradition associate the Holy Spirit with feminine characteristics, Jesus with maleness, who they believe remains so now in his "resurrected body" and then there is God the "Father" which intends to connote a protector!. One then could think also today of God the Mother!. So I guess we can RELATE to God as if he has gender, but in God's ultimate reality, he/she/it is genderless!. This of course is the Christian perspective as I understand it!. Keep in mind that the God of the philosophers and the God of the Bible, Tradition and Faith are frequently not the same thing!. is it really relevant what gender, all i know is i let go and let God!. im 45, and finally realizing that im blessed that he/she/whoever DOES EXIST!. its nice to have someone or someform their to have my back!. it took a long process, and im still learning!. think of it in terms of common sense!.
