Happiness!.

It's kind of a trick question though!.!.!.For people who don't attach their happiness to Wealth, or consider themselves wealthy from happiness, the question is hard to answer by saying one or the other!. It certainly is possible to be Happy and Wealthy, less so if you're happiness is dependent on material wealth!.

Really difficult thing to ask since we all have our own perception of what those two words mean, and the consequences that follow!. For instance, a man who grew up wealthy may interpret their sad childhood to the fact that their parent worked all the time!. Where as a poor man attributes his sad childhood to not having enough to eat, ergo wealth!. Do you see what I mean!? You can play with that scenario and make a counter-example to Any answer people give on this forum, including my own!. Everything is relative in our universe, especially our perception!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

If your definition of wealth is simply enough money to live normally then you have to pick wealth because without enough money to live, you will never be happy!. If wealth means so much money that you will never be able to spend it, then I would pick happiness!. Bottom line is you can live without true happiness but you can not live without money!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

I rather pick happiness beacuse Wealth is happiness but happiness is not wealth!. What I mean by that is!. Is that if ur happy then u must be living a good life and have enough money to get by!. But if ur wealthy it doesn't mean ur happy or living a good life!. It just means u have money but caan that money really buys u never ending happyniess or true love!. U can be wealthy but what if u have cancer and don't have much time to live!. There is no happiness in this case!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

Happiness is Wealth!. Wealth can be both material and mental or psychological!. Happiness is an intangible tangible!.

Witness:

The solitude of sunrise!.

Children's Laughter

The Breath of Life

These demonstrate happiness devoid of material possession!.

Remember the expression "Priceless"!?

Happiness is!Www@QuestionHome@Com

i think everyone would rather be happy and we only want wealth because we think it will make us happy!. though you could make it more complex if you said for example that you would sacrifice your own happiness to give the money to others!.

Utilitarian's such as Mill believe that we only ever desire happiness so if taking the money didnt make us happy we wouldnt do it:

http://www!.thestargarden!.co!.uk/theory%20!.!.!.

"Mill claims that happiness is the only thing that people desire and that all other desires are only good insofar as they produce happiness!. Mill admits that people may desire things without the contemplation of happiness, however he argues that this is due to the psychological effect of association where we come to equate an object with happiness so much that we can desire the object even if, in that instant, it will not make us happy !. Mill also admits that people may act in ways that do not make them happy!. In order to explain this Mill makes a distinction between what we truly desire and our 'will', which corresponds to the actions we actually pursue!. Mill claims that we may sometimes ignore our desires and follow our will by habit or because our desires are corrupted so that we do not know what is truly best for us!.

This assumption is disputed by Nozick, who argues that we do desire things other than happiness, he illustrates this with an example: given the choice between living our lives in an 'experience simulator' which would always give us the maximum amount of utility, and living the rest of our lives in the real world, where we must make our own limited amount of happiness, most people would rather live a 'real' life (Nozick, 1971, pp!.44)!. Apart from the dignity associated with living in the external world, Mill's argument also means that we cannot consider justice or love to be ends in themselves!."Www@QuestionHome@Com

The only way I could ever be truly happy is for all pain and suffering to cease!. So I'd rather be happy than wealthy, since if I were happy, then all pain and suffering would end, but my being wealthy would only help me get more stuff, and that, to me is absolutely meaningless!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Happiness!.
Not all wealthy people can be happy, being rich can make you greedy, you always want more and more and more, never being glad with what you have!. Of course, not all rich people are greedy!.
You don't have to be rich to be happy!.
