What is humanity's ultimate goal!? What is more important: freedom, or progress towards that goal!? Why did you choose that answer (progress or freedom)!? What is more important: freedom, or progress towards that goal!? Survival brings with it freedom to act!. Without survival, no action can be taken, and we are only free in our actions!. The two are inseparable!. Why did you choose that answer (progress or freedom)!? I hold many conflicting views at the same time!. I could have answered this question in so many ways!. I could have said, we don't know!. Since really, we don't!. Yet, what is one thing that we do know!? We live!. And more importantly, we evolve, develop, and generally persist!. Not as individuals, but through DNA and atoms and everything that composes us!. In this view, persistence over time is the one thing that humans live for!. We can't live without surviving!. In living on we are truly free!. You cannot make more specifications about what in life you are free in, because you can always argue your way out of that!. The basic requirement for freedom, any human freedom, is life!. We cannot be free without living!. This is one thing a lot of people, I think, fail to recognize!. People often tend to assume that we are alive, and disregard its significance in terms of our supposed 'end'!. I believe that our very beginning is our end!. Our life is our end!. We live for living, and we experience and grow, and we try to live for as long as we can and understand as much as we can!. I could go on for ages!. And I could argue most viewpoints on life (almost) with the same conviction!. What I think is that in life we simply lack the tools for determining life's significance, if any!. So all we can do is accept life's significance as life itself!. And I don't know about you guys and girls, but I think we are pretty darn lucky to experience life!. I am a 20 year old guy from Holland and I have a much too open mind to truly and unconditionally accept any religion or philosophy!. Unfortunately!. And progress has just about destroyed our eco system and depleted our natural resources!. Freedom is not free, entire races have been wiped out to achieve this so called freedom, people die everyday trying to protect it!.
