Not real meaning or purpose!.

But many people are able to imagine themselves as having a purpose and that process sometimes results in a feeling of having a purpose!. It is like looking at clouds and imagining faces in the clouds!. They look at their lives and imagine purpose!. But it's not real!.

I don't believe and I think life has a purpose and a meaning!. The purpose of life is to improve the lot of ones own species and expand its reach!. The meaning of life is what you individually decide is important for you!. The great problem I have with god is in the end it's a very selfish belief!. You get rewarded for doing the right thing or believing that your separate (and better) than others!.
To my way of thinking (not original) the individual is less than the group and the only way to go is the greatest good for the greatest number!. When you speak of purpose and meaning in life if the answer is not going to be get therapy you must think outside yourself!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Most people simply don't know that God exist because they've never had a spiritual experience of any kind, so they don't have any certainty or a taste for the infinite!. So most people either believe and basically are, however, agnostic, even atheist are agnostic, because people simply don't know!. What gives meaning then to people's lives is pleasure and what make them happy is expecting to get pleasure in the future!. Of course with pleasure comes pain when they can't get pleasure, and when pain reaches a certain point people turn to believing God, which is another form of pleasure!. But if the pain is sufficient enough so that they renounce going after pleasure resolutely and then try to find a way out by trying to find God and know Him directly, then they have launched upon the true goal of lifeWww@QuestionHome@Com

Some believers have trouble imagining atheists as anything other than nihilists, because for them purpose or meaning in life can only come from their god!. Atheists, of course, would beg to differ, but a case can be made for believers also that god is not the source of one's purpose!.

Whether you believe that god made you with free will or that free will was a byproduct of natural evolution, either way we humans are a sentient species with free will!. As such, our destinies are largely in our own hands!. It is up to each individual one of us to create our own purpose or meaning in life!. To say that your purpose in life is handed down from On High is to say that your fate, your destiny is not actually yours to determine, and hence that you are not truly a free-willed creature, but more of an automaton or a computer running God's Program!. In which case, why is there a heaven & hell if your Life Plan has already been made for you!?

As an atheist I obviously believe that we make our own purpose in life, but I guess my point is that you can be a believer and hold that view as well!.
