Dictionary definitions:
1!. a person who cherishes or pursues high or noble principles, purposes, goals, etc!.
2!. a visionary or impractical person!.
3!. a person who represents things as they might or should be rather than as they are!.
4!. a writer or artist who treats subjects imaginatively!.
5!. a person who accepts the doctrines of idealism!.


Essentially, it's someone that lives more in the mind and in ideas than in reality!. Practicality doesn't necessarily mean a hell of a lot to an idealist!.!.!. I myself am a disappointed idealist!. Which makes me a cynic!.
Lol!.

Philosopher John Locke exemplifies this perfectly!. In fact, you'll see this a lot in philosophers!. Not to say that there weren't/aren't realistic philosophers, but there were a lot of dreamers that did little else!.

Hmm!.!.!. I'd consider Marx an idealist as well, actually!.

Everyone knows what an idealist is in the common sense of a dreamer!.

However an idealist in a strict philosophical sense is someone who believes our ideas our the only thing we know is true!. This means that life is subjective because we view it through our own eyes and analyze with our own experiencesWww@QuestionHome@Com
