Historically, and as far as I'm aware still is today, philosophy is/was a science based on all other sciences!. The main difference with philosophy was that it tended to rely on hypothesis!. It still required a basis in logic, however!.

Socrates came up with a neat device called the syllogism!. It was a set of strict rules whereby you could deduce a logical result from a set of defined parameters!. The limiting factor of this, though, was the number of parameters you used!.

Another chap name George Boole (an Irish mathematician) came up with a stricter medium called Boolean logic or Boolean algebra!. This was eventually taken up by the computer scientist!.

Like mathematics and physics, though, there is always the theoretical side of the subject!. It relies on the insertion of spanners in wheels!. In effect someone puts forward an outlandish premise and works backwards until they get an acceptable result!. As far as I know this is probably an extension of 'lateral thinking' which was an oddball approach to finding creative solutions to problems!. This was invented or propounded by a Maltese chap called Edward DeBono!.

As a science, logic should rule!. As a creative tool, 'out there' theory rules!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Yes!.!.and!.!.NO!. Philosophy is always about perception!. If a man stands on a hill and shouts complete gibberish for an hour near a large village, someone is likely to hear!. Most people might think the man is insane, but one person might be inspired!. Since philosophy brings up social, personal, and religious issues everyone is entitled to their own perceptions, therefore making it logical for some and not for others!. However, everyone has some sort of personal philosophy for life!. Basically, philosophy in general is up in the air!.!.!.it's all about which aspects you chose to take!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

no!. philosophy isnt always logical!. the way we think, is that always logical!? is what we think deeply about always going to fit in the rut that is 'logical'!? the way it works depends on the individual, not the individualS!. it has to be based on one person, and how they take it!.

Philosophy is somewhat dependent upon personal experience, and as you know, with personal experience "your mileage may vary", as they say!.!.!. Anything between 10 miles-per-gallon and 40 miles-per-gallon may be considered "logical"!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
