Question: Are we all allowed a seat in the audience of philosophy!?
Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
Yes, but only as automatons without the power to effect the influence it is having on your mind, your outlook, your opinions, beliefs, etc!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Entry: au·di·ence
Pronunciation: \?o?-dē-?n(t)s, ??-\
Function: noun
Etymology: Middle English, from Anglo-French, from Latin audientia, from audient-, audiens, present participle of audire
Date: 14th century
1: the act or state of hearing
2 a: a formal hearing or interview <an audience with the pope> b: an opportunity of being heard <I would succeed if I were once given audience>
3 a: a group of listeners or spectators b: a reading, viewing, or listening public
4: a group of ardent admirers

According to Webster's online dictionary, I believe that we are all "allowed a seat", if not by the first definition then at least one of the other three!.
Now while I'm certain that not everyone is an ardent admirer, surely most of us are at least capable of being a spectator!. I am quite certain that all of us if subpoenaed by the court would (by law) be granted a formal hearing upon which we would be allowed a seat!. Whether we agreed with the judges philosophy or not!.
So yes, we are all allowed a seat!. One way or another!.
:)

p!.s!. Don't forget logic is also a branch of philosophy!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

i see three main directions from this question:
1- are we all allowed to receive/interpret/hear philosophy's message/s!?
2- are we all allowed to put philosophy to a test of justifying its existence!?
3- are we all allowed to be tested by philosophy!?

1- in a nutshell, i think everyone must do this!. i think ignoring vibrant ideas is a guaranteed way to die miserable and/or clueless!.
2- in the first iteration, this is also something that must be done, constantly!. to simply accept the ideas of kant, wittgenstein, zizek, et al without questioning them is to ignore the purposes of philosophy: examination and exploration!.
3- subjecting ourselves to philosophy's rigors is the hardest!. philosophy is not something easy, no matter what you may think or what anyone may tell you!. i often liken the in-depth study of philosophy to being part of a large group of people thrown from an airplane, and you being the only one who are capable of using your parachute, even though everyone has one!.

synopsis: not only are we allowed, but i believe it is imperative!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

There are rarely audiences in Philosophy!. Spectators listen, observe and learn and assume the equalities and thinking their perceptions have acknowledged!.

The mind is a chemical reactor seeking to fortify its deficiency, allay its fears and suspicious and augment its comforting views and held opinions!.

Philosophy is best studied with an open mind then it is a wonder world of an infinite imaginations manifold manifestations and interpretations of truth and understanding!.
