Question: Is there a universal human nature!?
Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
I think yes!.

We may be different physically, and we may have different experiences, but the window we look the world through is the same!. What I mean is, we have an awareness and spiritual essence that is in us all!.
Existentialists might hate this statement, but the proof that we have similarities can be seen that "although we become different, we are all becoming" - we are all searching for knowledge and opinion!.

Another proof for this is, "we all think we are right" - even the person who does not think they're right, still thinks they're right in thinking they are not!.

Another proof for this is, "we do what we feel is right" (even though it may be wrong) and because our actions are based on this Universal Feeling, we do have a Universal Nature!.

The reason we have different results and conclusions is due to different experiences (such as upbringing) and different capacities (such as gender)!. However, it is the same Universal Nature that receives these different perceptions and moulds them into different meanings, concepts and ideas!.

After all, humans are different with animals in that the latter doesn't even 'have' a concept of concept or an idea of an idea - in fact they don't have opinions!.

The fact that we do have opinions, albeit vastly different, shows at least that we share at least one common ground!. I'm sure we can find more!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

The answer to this question is most likely parallel to the answer to the question is there a universal nature of human languages!?

In searching for language universals we find many but there are always languages which are exceptional in lacking some universals, yet universals are widely distributed!.

There is universal human nature obviously we cook, hunt, care for our young!.

But is there a single essence common among all humans that sets us appart!? Many social behaviors are such and set us appart from animals!. We are advanced in our use of tools and reason!.

I could not fully deal with all ramifications of this question though!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

I think there are some traits that the bulk of humanity share!. For example, we generally share an aversion to pain, or the will to seek happiness and welbeing!.

On the other hand though, if (for example) a will to sustain life is part of root human nature, then how does one explain Kamikaze fighters in World War II!? Www@QuestionHome@Com

I'M TAKING A SOCIOLOGY CLASS RIGHT NOW AND YESTERDAY MY TEXT BOOK TOLD ME THAT NO WAY OF LIFE IS NATURAL TO HUMANITY AND EVERYTHING IS INFLUENCED BY SOCIETY!. MEANING THE CONCEPT OF HUMAN NATURE IS GOING TO VARY BETWEEN CULTURES!.
I BELIEVE, HOWEVER, THERE ARE CERTAIN THINGS THAT ARE INGRAINED IN OUR MINDS FROM BIRTH!. EATING, SLEEPING!.!.!.IF SOMEONE WAS BORN IN A ROOM AND LEFT THERE BUT BROUGHT FOOD EVERY DAY I THINK THEY'D FIGURE OUT HOW TO EAT IT!. EVEN ASPECTS OF OUR SEXUALITY, RELIGION, ETC!. MAYBE SOCIETY SHAPES THEM, BUT WITHOUT SOCIETY'S INFLUENCE I BELIEVE THERE WOULD BE A UNIVERSAL HUMAN NATURE!.!.!.BUT WHERE DO YOU FIND SOMEONE WHO ISN'T INFLUENCED BY SOCIETY!?

Definitely- we all-

*Feel love and hate

*feel insecure about something

*love our children and animals

*desire companionship

*feel great loss when someone we love dies

There are only a few sub-cultures in the world that do not follow these examples (terrorists), but I don't think of them as human!.
