Yes and No!.

Some Logic text book is for philosophy course; but some are for mathematics!.

Logic is about human reasoning which is the basic for philosophy!.

Logic is also a basic for Abstract Algebra!.

You need to choose a proper textbook!. If you like you can study them both and you will see the difference!. In fact, they are very similar to each other!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Yes, check out classical greece!. Aristotle set up rules for logic with his syllogisms!. But it also has its roots in language, how we word things to mean what we want them to mean!.
A long time later Mathematicians such as Leibniz and Descartes got into it!.
Then of course the word came into use as a computer term with Binary logic!.
But Logic is part of the study of philosophy!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Now, though, I would say that logic is necessary for philosophy in the same way that maths is necessary for physics –but the uses of logic now spread too far for it to be considered only a branch of philosophy!.
