color is not a color until it is seen!.

the blind human cannot realize what does the word "color" mean!.!.!.consequently cannot realize what is "red" or what is "blue"!?

but try to do your best to clarify the picture by explaining the meaning of the colors !.!.!.for example :

red is war and love
green is peace and prosperity
black is darkness and death
white is honesty and spirit
blue is romance and sky
pink is childhood and vitality
yellow is depression and jealousy

color to him is an abstract subject to his imagination only!.

Color is an intrinsic thing!. Meanings and feelings associated with colors are just that, associated!. They aren't inherently connected!. As such, interpretations on a higher level than just sensing the color differ between individuals!. If a person has never had the sense of sight, it would to say the least, incredulously difficult towards the point of impossibility to convey an image of a color to them utilizing only words!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I can only guess how it is to be blind, but colours can't be as important to a blind person as to a sighted!. We use colours to describe things we see - a black or a white car, a green or a red apple - and to interpret our surrounding - somebody blushes and signals they are embarrassed or agitated, you get a flaming red rash and know something's not right, the sky darkens and you know a thunderstorm is coming etc!. A blind person has to use other senses and may hear that somebody is agitated due to their breathing or how they move, or smell rain the air!.

There may be ways to actually *feel* different colours and I guess the eventual ability to do so depends on a person's sensibility and wish to separate between colours, but generally speaking, a blind person would probably be able to give a more multidimensional description and interpretation of any object or situation than a sighted person!.

I suppose blind kids are taught the most common colours of different object, like for instance that an apple is never blue, charcoal is black and snow is white and so on, which is important when you communicate with other people!.

In sign language, there are signs to describe different sounds, so I'm positive there are ways for blind people to relate to colours, too!. Www@QuestionHome@Com

By comparing the various colors to other physical sensations which the sightless person has experienced such as cool, fresh water for the color blue, heat for red, the smell of an orange for the color orange, pink might be a rose, yellow might be a warm spring sunrise, bitter cold might be black, etc!.

I'm surprised nobody has used one of our most vital senses!.!.!.taste!.

There are a lot of wonderful foods out there, that the blind can most certainly relate to, which can translate to a color!. The taste of a blue berry, strawberry, melons, vegetables are a keen sense of taste that have distinct color attributes!.

You could even lay out different colored apples and have them taste the different apples as they pick up the subtleties of them!. Of course, the obvious is the ice/blue, heat/red stuff!.!.!.but, why not be creative!?!!? Make them a meal and enjoy it together!!

If a man wants to describe green he would first start off by saying it is the color of new life, it is the color of spring as blades of grass come poking up through the cold snow to bring that warm wet smell that is green coming right out of the earth, fragrant and fertile!.
