Surely someone as educated and disciplined in scholarly pursuits as a Doctor would be would also be well-disciplined in communicative and rhetorical skills enough to know how preposterous it is to address those who quote Revelation as such!. What is really going to happen in 2012 is that the Sun is aligned with the center of the galaxy, an event that only occurs every 26,000 yrs!. The Mayans believed that the Winter Solstice (12/21) was the birth of a new sun!. They also believed the center of the galaxy was a cosmic womb!. So as the sun aligns, it is as if it is truly rising from the womb!. So 12/21/2012 is the day a new sun is is born, a new year starts, and a new galactic cycle begins!. it's known to science that at some point(i think it's supposed to be on the winter solstice) during the year 2012, the sun will align with the center of our galaxy!.also, the mayan calendar ends on that date!.

Well, regarding the Olympics, I guess it'll happen after, since the "end" is supposed to be on the Winter solstice, December 21!. My thinking is that the magnetic poles on the earth are going to reverse, and the resulting cataclysmic climate change will wipe us all out!.
