Question: When giving a gift which is better!?
Something thoughtful, something practical, or something fun!? When a gift is given to you, which do you prefer!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

It depends upon who you are giving the gift to and the purpose of giving the gift is!. I might get my best friend something fun that is a joke between us and give my mother something thoughtful!. Yet, you can get a thought, practical and fun gift!. For example if I could get my friend a nice stereo and she would find it thoughtful (as I know she loves music), practical (she could use a new one and would use it) and fun (she could dance around the house listening to music)!.

When I get a gift I usually want something thoughtful!. That means the person really thought about me and who I am when picking out the gift!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I personally would prefer something thoughtful, I like it when something is given to me to be personal, and it is something that I can relate with!. I like fun things as well, but you can buy a lot of fun things that I wouldn't even consider receiving as a gift!. If you give something thoughtful it can turn into a fun gift becasue I think it can make a person happier you can touch a person's heart more beacsue you didn't just demonstrate that you care for the person but you also took the time out to buy something that they can relate with!. But eventually if you give a gift a person shouldn't complain about it as the saying goes "don't look at the teeth of a gift horse"!. Good luck Www@QuestionHome@Com

Those concepts aren't mutually exclusive!. Giving something practical and fun is being thoughtful!. However we all have different ideas about what is fun so you have to think about what the other person would like and that means knowing something about them - can't help you more than that!.

I prefer something consumable as I've got too much 'stuff' already!. (and most people do)Www@QuestionHome@Com

Depends on the reason for the gift!. Birthdays can usually be any of them, moving in party may require something practical (ie toaster or money), christmas can be any of the above, valentines is usually thoughtful or fun, anniversaries are usually something thoughtful or fun, etc!. etc!.!.!.
It doesn't really matter, the fact that I am receiving a gift is more than enough!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I would go for the thoughtful gift!.

I say this in my own experience of giving gifts!. Like even at Christmas, we have to give gifts to our family members who have it all!. And anything they need, they buy for themselves!.!.!. So, you are forced to just buy something so you don't appear to be a loser and cheapskate who shows up with nothing!. In the midst of this situation, maybe time is running out, and I must just get anything so I can get it over with!. WELL !.!.!.!. I think it would be so much more meaningful for people to actually put some thought and creativity into a gift that will have meaning in someone's life!. Write a beautiful letter on fancy stationary paper,or a poem that expresses you feelings, or give them a photography collage of important people in their lives!. This has to be something that relates to the person you are focusing on!. It would be good to focus on their interests, or the person they are on the inside!. This way, you know no one else will give them the same gift, and there is no chance that it will be returned, or even given away to someone else next year!.

I love to give those thoughtful gifts in which I can put my heart and soul into expressing true genuine feelings!. I think people love to get things like this as well!. Sometimes practical, is well, not that practical, and fun only lasts so much time and wears off!.

Sometimes I like to give two small gifts - one I KNOW the person will like and one I hope the person will like!.

For example, I recently bought two bottles of wine for a customer because I know he loves wine!. But I also bought him a copy of "Kamikaze Girls" as something different he might enjoy!. If he doesn't like it, I'm pretty sure he'll enjoy the wine because I asked his wife what types he likes!.

I like either if I think the gift-giver really put some thought into the purchase!. It's very flattering to have another spend some time trying to choose the perfect gift for you!.

One of my "keyboard pals" knew I was having a bad night!. The next day she drew a picture of my screen name that was so thoughtful and cute, I cried one night when I thought about it! Was that ever a surprise!

Sorry - I ran on a bit!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

something practical or something thoughtful!! My mom used to give me lockets and charm bracelets for my birthday when i was a kid!.!.!. she used to work ALL the time when I was little and I literally only got to see her like once a month!. Same with my dad!. I filled the lockets with pictures of my parents, and when they weren't around- I still felt close to 'em :)I still have all my lockets and charm bracelets!.
Now that I'm older, I like getting things that will be handy!.!.!. guitar strings, paint, wine, notebooks!.!.!. those kinds of things 'cause I don't have a whole lot of money to buy those kindsa things on my own!.
Hope this helped!Www@QuestionHome@Com

Mostly I prefer a thoughtful gift!. It says, I know you and I care about you, to me!. During times in my life when my finances looked pretty bad, a practical gift would have been perfect!. Fun or even silly gifts are okay sometimes, too!. We all need a good laugh!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

It depends on the person and what your relationship with that person is!. I personal think thoughtful is more practical!. Because the person knows that you thought about them while you were looking or making the gift!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Why not all three!? For me, I prefer something thoughtful!. Practicality can be dull!. Fun is well fun!. Thoughtful shows that someone cares enough to think deeply about what a person might want and that carries a lot of value!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

1st!. Practical
2nd!.Thoughtful
3rd!. Fun

You could try a gift voucher but then the person knows how much you 'value' them!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Personally, I like the thoughtful, but I guess it depends on the person!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
