It was originally written by a British poet William Ernest Henley!.
My best favorite short 'Poem'!. 'Had recited it during school days in front of many schoolmates!. I was a real shy girl at that time and this poem made me get out from that shell I had been sulking for!. Because my parents were very strict people!. Although they weren't really for themselves!.!.

INVICTUS

Out of the night that covers me,
Black as the pit from pole to pole!.
I thank whatever gods maybe,
For my unconquerable soul!.

In the fell clutch of circumstance,
I have not winced nor cried aloud,
Under the bludgeonings of chance,
My head is bloody, but unbowed!.

Beyond this place of wrath and tears,
Looms but the horror of the shade,
And yet the menace of the years
Finds, and shall find me unafraid!.

It matters not how straight the gate!.
How charged with punishments the scroll,
I am the master of my fate!.
I am the captain of my soul!.

This was written from his hospital bed!.
The title in Latin 'Unconquered' (1875)Www@QuestionHome@Com
