Desire is a very ellusive concept!. You desire something!.!.!.but even if you get that thing you desire it's not going to make you feel whole!. If you keep desiring and pursuing something in order to "complete" your life you will forever feel incomplete and pained!.

The original Buddha was a spoiled rich kid in the Royal Family when it occurred to him that "desire" interfered with his personal peaceful center!. Any such interference could be viewed as Earthly Pain/suffering!. He saw immediately, that such a realization was in the original Hinduism, already ancient by that time, but had been lost, due to the predictable actions of creepy overbearing sanctimonious humans in general!. So he set about updating things, most notably his next discoveries that God would return "Love For God" feelings directly into one's heart, and that as soon as one stopped compulsively judging the seen world around oneself, it glowed with the presence of God!. Because he was already a celebrity by birth, if he had championed armpit-licking, it too would have swung into popularity! Be that as it may!. Upon his death, he being Royalty and all, the quickly formed "Department of Buddhism" appointed cold aggressive successors to head the troops, and various versions of Voidism/ Nihilism became the preferred socially acceptable form to get dates and job referrals!. The same degeneration happens to all religions exposed to bad monkeys for any length of time!. So it is that Spiritual Archaeology is the only true religion, attempting to re-connect with the original heart/ "logic of morals" connection with God, which repeatedly gets shared with humans, only to become converted into cannibalism/ closet Satanism in some form every time, over time!. If desire is the master of you, then it brings you sorrow, agony and pain!.

You are correct!. If you let go of your desire then you are free from wanting things!. If the mind is not disturbed in either direction, wanting or not wanting then you sit peacefully in the middle free from all things!.

Even if a demon grabs you and rips your arms from your body you will only laugh at him and offer him a leg!. Detachment, is that what you really want if you are wanting it then it is still desire, if you are not wanting it, then it is desire!. To free yourself of pain truly you must niether want nor must you not want things!. Peacefully in the middle my freind!. A Taoist once said Best be still!. Best be silent!.

Life is the root cause of pain!. Any animal can feel pain!. Desire is the root cause of anger!. An animal can feel pain and suffering!. But consciousness is needed to convert pain and suffering into anger or intelligent action!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
