Material wealth and financial security do not necessarily mean one will have a "good life"!.
To many material possessions often cause one to worry about keeping the same!.
Please to remember, hearses do not have luggage racks!.

Living in mindful awareness, demonstrated by acts of generosity, loving kindness, compassion and caring, conscious of who you are and what you do, how such effects all others and the consequences of your actions does not require material possessions!.

"a good life" is subjective!. Your life is good if you deem it to be!. Do you have plenty of food!? A secure roof over your head!? Friends you enjoy and trust!? Family that loves you!? Hobbies or activities you enjoy!? Any or all of these things can make your life worth living and some people are even happy without them!.
If you have high expectations, you need to be able to meet those expectations or you will never have a good life!. Example: if you declare to yourself that you can't be happy unless you own and drive a Hummer, then unless you own and drive one, you will never be happy and you will never have a "good life"!.
It's all up to you!. Make the effort to be happy and being happy will no longer take effort!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

yes!. material items, especially the striving for them, can be a major distraction!. hopefully we are here for a purpose beyond being mere pawns in a masters game!. in other words, our soul probably moves from this experience to another when/after we die!. so, what should we be doing with our time here!? probably doesn't have to do with material things!. so, it's possible by living with the right intentions and trying to figure out why you are here and fulfilling your purpose!. but that's a tall order so we should live with the right intentions along the way and try to alleviate suffering of others!.
