We have several different sets of nerve ending types in our skin!. One is for pain!. Another type detects cold!. A third, heat!. You can map out each type separately, using a needle, a cooled metal rod, or a heated metal rod!. They each are treated differently in your brain, which makes all cold nerves seem similar, etc!.
