Many people think the words "love" and "care" are interchangeable!. They say "I love you" and "I care for you" and mean the same thing!. Typically, those who say "I care for you" are actually saying, "I think I may "love" you, but I'm not "in love" with you, and I don't want to make a commitment that I'm not really sure about!.

That having been said, Websters New Expended Dictionary defines "care" as: Solicitude, attention, object of watchful regard!. That means you don't just have a feeling, you are actually taking an action to be protective of some person, thing, or idea!.

Love is that some thing person or idea pleases you, perhaps even enlivens you and gives you some great reward!. But doesn't mean you'll have care for or take care of it!.

Since you didn't elaborate further, its hard to put it into context!. I will try to answer in the most general terms because it really depends on the situation:
When someone you like romantically tells you they care for you as opposed to they love you in response to your declaration - to me, that means they don't return your romantic feelings but they care for you as a friend!.
In most cases though love and care are used interchangeably - like for parents and kids, friends, relatives etc!.

i think the difference between love and care is very fine!.

i think you can care for someone, i!.e!. such professions as doctors, nurses, etc!., but not actually love that someone!. but on the same subject of such professions, i believe the really good doctors and nurses are the ones that love their profession!.

love is committing yourself with your whole heart to something or someone; someone or something you would do anything for so long as that one thing or person is happy; love is caring even when it hurts you; love is accepting someone completely with all their faults!.

i think it would be safe to say that care can exist by itself, but if you have love, you're automatically going to have care!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

This can be answered multiple ways, good question, I've been toiling over this same question, in some ways!. For example, I've been dating this girl for about 4 months now and I really care about her but I do not love her and I'm not sure that will change!. Anyway,

Love includes caring!.

Caring does not necessarrily include love!.

To me caring for someone is different than loving them!. Caring for someone is a close relationship but does not have that extra Umpf, if you know what I mean!. Caring means you don't want to see anything bad happen to them etc!.!.!. Basically you care for friends and love a potential life mate, wife, husband etc!.!.!.

I also see caring as a step to love!. Although some go straight to love, a more progressive approach starts at like, then caring then love!.

Love is the top of possible positive feelings for someone, caring, I think is a step below!.

Care is like this: I care if that person walking across the street gets hit by a car!. I'll do what I can to help them until help arrives!.

I have heard people say, "I love you so much I'd die for you!" Ok thats easy, rarely comes into play and when it does, chances are you'd do it without even thinking!. Would you think about whats best for me!? would you put my needs first (not all the time but sometimes)!?
