Question: Is it possible to work out a statistical probability for God's existence!?
Some philosophers have attempted to work out the probability for God's existence using complex mathematics!. Do you think that this approach is fruitful!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

You're getting a lot of negative feedback on this one, just in case you haven't noticed, which would be pretty hard, by the way!. Nykus is intriguing in her argument, however, as is Skatta!. Skatta is the one that I would like to address before I make my own comments though!. You are looking at this from a four dimensional standpoint, correct!? Length, width, height, and time!? Okay, God, seen as omni-pretty much everything, how many dimensions do you think He can work in!? Because, somehow, I think that someone who is seen as omnipotent could find a way around something like, oh, I don't know, time barriers (even if our science, which is continuously modified and disproven, hasn't gotten there yet)!. The laws of physics were made around the previously created, so I think God came first on that one!. He probably set up the rules!.!.!.just a thought (and that also makes it more likely that He is not under them)!. also, which came first: the conservation of energy or the One who created energy!? The conservation of energy states that energy can neither be gained nor lost within the universe, so how does that apply to before the universe!? Nevertheless, you have my respect for thinking about it from a physics standpoint!. I'd love a counterargument!.

I don't see how any mathematics could work out the probability of the existence of a Higher Being!. However the question is set up, with as much information as the world knows, I think that the only answer the philosophers are going to find is D) not enough info!. And even if they did find a number, what are they going to do with that!? For example, if they said that it was 99% likely that there was no God, people would still adamantly believe in Him, just as people would argue that God does not exist even with a 99% chance that He did exist!. Science and mathematics can always be manipulated (especially statistics) to fit an argument!. Case in point: For extremely high values of 2, 2+2=5!. Algebra has some unusual twists to it!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I dont think this would help!. I am sure there is a logic even for Gods existence just like there is a reason for everything that happens around you!. People deny gods existence if some thing is scientifically or logically possible!. But the more logical it is, the more I believe in God!. But we are not in a stage to understand or calculate the existence of God!. First of all we need to understand overselves completely to do anything like that, but even if we get there, probability is not an answer because God is either there or not there!. You cant say he is 85% there!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

according to the laws of physics, and the definition of God, the statistical probability is zero!.

omniscient requires that the speed of light be broken, omnipresent as well, and omnipotent requires that the law of conservation of energy be broken!.

also that god created the universe requires that god pre-existed the universe and that is impossible for various reasons!. one of which also being it violates the law of conservation of energy!.

That type of mating (sciences and faith) never turns out well!. That's how we got that ridiculous man who tries to prove the existence of God by reverse-engineering bananas!.

Perhaps my knowledge is too limited (knock on wood), but I don't see this attempt turning out well either!. In a sense, I've already calculated the probability of God's existence using relative frequency!. Over the course of 365 days last year, I observed God and interventions of God in my life 0 times!. Hence, P(God) = 0/365 = 0!. That is for me, of course, and I'm just a case study of one person!. But hopefully you get the idea!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

If God doesn't exist, then we have no good explanation for the way things are, and such attempts to find Him are worthless!.

If God does exist, and He is the sort of God that can create the order that leads to mathematics, there is no reason to believe He'd play our game!. More likely, He wouldn't fit in our box!. He wouldn't submit to our sciences!.

He'd be just as has already been described!.!.!.content to have the faith of those that don't need proof, and unimpressed with the searches of those that don't for such proof!.

Everything I see, hear, and comprehend screams to me that there is a God!. Nonetheless, no one could ever use those things to prove His existence!. It's like handing you a pot and asking you to prove the existence of the potter, or dropping a ball and asking you to prove that it was gravity that caused it to fall!.

Or perhaps even more accurately, it's like asking you to prove to a blind man that's quite insistent there's nothing visible in the universe that there is!. He doesn't have sight!. He can't see!. You won't convince him until Someone gives him sight, and once he has it, it's not necessary to convince him anymore!. He can see it for himself!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Yes, like many answers afore me, Gods existence is of faith!. Because of this there is no evidence for its (god) existence, and almost none against it!.

I've tried statistics, and have always ended inconclusive!. But because of the lack of Logic (#1 reason for me) I do not personally believe in its existence!.

I myself believe that god is a personification of the Universe!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

We look to science to answer the questions we have the ability to understand, and in the past people looked to religion for this, though religions answers are just glorified childrens stories!.

There is a mathematical theory against the idea of us randomly appearing out of proteins and such things, and they say it is like a tornado whipping around a junkyard, and at the end, a fully assembled 747 jet would be completed!. that would never happen, and the odds of us popping up out of no where are the same!.

however, id say when science fails us we should look to the fantastic and improbable!. the bible koran and other religious books have nothing to do with god if you ask me!. if god is real, and he speaks to certain people, those whom he speaks with today would be locked up as crazy people, meanwhile the organized religions just make more money and support a lot of questionable actions!.

I think you cant work out a math formula for something you dont have all the variables for!. trying to work out if god existed mathematically would be like = x+y+3-z=human creation!. we know there is a 3 in that equation, but we dont know enough right now to say where x and y came from!.

i wouldnt be surprised if we were an alien experiment, and they are growing us in a lab like we grow culturesWww@QuestionHome@Com

God is to be accepted by Faith!. Dont try to prove God by probabilities--jusdge the things by God's Laws!. If something does not measure up to what God says then it is wrong!. Scientists and mathematicians are making massivev mistakes dailyWww@QuestionHome@Com

I think it's a pathetic waste of time and human resources!. Look, the existence of God is 100% an article of faith!. So if you have that faith, you don't need proof, and if you don't, then no amount of mathematics can convince you!. QED!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

No, I'd call it mental masturbation!.!.!.!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Sure!. If you're into wasting time!.!.!.!.

I agree with Nas!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

!.!.!.GOD is a man made creation to control people!.!.!.so, he will exist to the last human being who believes in him!.!.!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
