Question: Is beauty truly in the eyes of the beholder!?
I've heard this saying repeated over and over again and yet it continues to baffle me!. Who can behold or be a true judge of another person's beauty!? Being that most of us are solely interested in our own vanity, how can we come outside of ourselves long enough to be an unbaised judge of someone else's looks (in particular, same genders)!? In my own experience, I've come to realize that some women have a lot of insecurities and can be down right hateful towards other women! I've experienced this with my own girlfriends and it really sucked! I don't have a problem giving out a compliment yet, I've had girlfriends go out of their way to make me feel like crap about an outfit, my hair, or something immaterial like that! Lucky for me I don't put much stock in what others think when it comes to my looks because I'm more than okay with the way I look!. Plus, I think it's more important to feel good about yourself than to get complimented on your looks!. In fact, I get uncomfortable when people take too much interest in the way I look or what I'm wearing since I do it for myself and not for anyone's approval! I think beauty comes from within and will only exude on the outside when people walk with self-respect, confidence, dignity, and pride! That is why someone who may not possess an inherent aesthetic beauty could capture the heart of a supermodel (Seal and Heidi Klum)!. If anyone has read or watched an interview with Heidi, then you are aware of her vast praises about her husbands beautiful nature!. To me, she is a woman of distinct beauty but finds her husband to be the most beautiful man alive!. That is a true testament of love defining beauty! I guess beauty is really in the heart of the beholder rather than the eyes since what we see isn't always apparent to everyone else!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

The woman mathematician Hypatia of Alexandria worked with the "golden ratio," and proved conclusively, hundreds of years ago, that beauty is mathematical harmony, therefore universal, and not in the eye of the beholder!. Dr!. Stephen Marquardt, a plastic surgeon, developed a mask whose polygonal shapes have the proportions based on the numbers worked with by Renaissance artists, who themselves in turn worked with Hypatia's calculations to create their works of art!. The golden ratio was discovered by the Mathematician, I believe, Pythagoras, also famous for his theorem!. It is either Pythagoras, or Euclid, it was one of them!. My memory fails but more likely it was Euclid, since the golden ratio is all about geometric shape!.
Whichever of those two men it was, they discovered the golden ratio by actively measuring, and averaging, things in nature considered beautiful, everything from sea shells and flowers, to the sky!. Eventually coming up with their number!. The beauty mask, has a masculine and feminine equivalent, and generally the better a person fits the mask, the "prettier" they are!. An actress, believe it or not, who fits the beauty mask almost to a T, is Scarlett Johansson, and I hear that in person she is intimidating from how stunning she is; the camera, I know DESPISES her!. From all accounts they don't do her justice!. Maybe she's too pretty, and the camera itself is jealous!.
Far as the male mask, most men considered "attractive" their faces are either too large and brutish, or too feminized to fit it perfectly!. One actor who DOES fit the male mask almost perfectly though, is Mexican actor Jaime Camil!. There are few Latinas who would argue with the fact, that there is mathematical proof that he is the prettiest man on the planet!. I like Jaime Camil's face because he shows the power of the latino over the ugly brutish gringo neanderthal f*ck called "hot" by barbarian feet like rowboats gringas!. Camil shows its possible to be good looking without looking like a damned neanderthal, and still be manly!. However because of racist attitudes in America, I doubt even someone like Camil would have much success with white women!. Sure he looks good, and he probably has bucks, but he's still "mexican!." Like it really matters though; I doubt Camil is exactly motivated to leave his home turf of Mexico, judging from the women who live there!.!.!.!.!.!.

I totally sympathize with some of your experiences,as well as with some of your views!.To be honest though it seemed to me as though you were apologizing for being good-looking ,which MAY mean you need to alter the circle of your friends and find new ones!.What the hell, do they look that bad themselves!?By the way, I don't believe one can say they are expressing themselves(the clothes you choose are a way of expressing yourself),solely for themselves, it is a paradox,I believe it is yet another way of apologizing!.I think everybody welcomes approval and acceptance, and everybody is seeking it, to some degree,which is perfectly alright!.
Anyway,as to whether beauty is in the eye of the beholder,I would guess it is to some degree,but physical symmetry is a universal trait, essential to some point to beauty!.When falling in love is concerned, physical beauty may even be totally disregarded in a few cases--when it comes to jealousy and antagonizing, one can either overestimate or underestimate the outer appearance of the rival!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
it is my opinion that it is impossible for human not to be affected by each other!. we can never be like a pane of glass!. we always absorb what others do to some degree!. it effects all parts of us!. i dont think anyone can say "i dress for myself!." "i buy what i like!." when really someone came along and made it acceptable to put clothes on in the first place!. if we truly did thing for ourselves, we all wouldnt wear jeans!. so when we say something is beautiful, it is with the sum of our excperiences that we make it so!. but the same object is also something to someone else!. also the same object is always changing because we are always changing!. its beauty can fade!. so what bakes my noodle is that does every object contain every feeling, every emotion and we see only what we want from it!? or are things a blank slate that wait for us to imprint thing onto them!? either way, people dont want new things, they want mirrorsWww@QuestionHome@Com
