Because people believe that the two theories of evolution (the scientific and Biblical theories) contradict one another!. One states that God crafted man, and the other states that man was formed by thousands of years of genetic changes in Earth's original life forms!. What people don't realize is that BOTH can support our ideas of how the Earth came to be and how it continues to exist!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

It's nice to see science as evidence of God's existence!. Not everyone sees it that way!. There may be many scientists who become more convinced by science that everything can be explained scientifically!. Actually God can also be explained scientifically!. It may be unknown to many people but the ancient sanskrit Vedic scriptures are extremely scientific!. Many of them are translated into English by devotional scholars!. Including the Shrimad Bhagavatam!. I don't know if it is on the web but there is one video called 'Vedic cosmos' which explains a lot!. There is one small book by the reknowned devotee AC Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada called "Life comes from life" in which he challenges scientists to create life!. Science asks for evidence of a claim being made!.
Religion asks you to just beleive without evidence!.
This is the source of conflict!.
Some use discoveries made by science to support an argument for the existence of god!.
Like the "fine tunning" argument of intelligent design!.
Though these arguments are compelling, they do not serve as evidence for a particular god in a particular religion!.
These arguments do not even support that god still exists only that at one point a highly intelligent being may have created the universe!.
One can not use these arguments to make statements beyond this and still expect them to be considered valid!.
Aside from this such arguments do not explain how or why the being created the universe, so science is the best approach to these questions!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

because in Science, people are very curious and attempt to give an explanation on everything!. while in Religion, especially Christianity, all they need is faith and no scientific explanations necessary!.

to religious people, science feels like it is "doubting" God's existence even if it's merely curious!. it is contrary to their teaching to be "concerned" about the other things that they "shouldn't"!. so these two things often end up arguing each other!.

this is the answer that came to my mind at least!. as most people nowadays are being more on scientific as technology advances!.!. but when I've read your statement, "I think science is evidence of God's existance", things felt different!. I don't think science is an argument against god per se, science says nothing about god(s)!. But science does give us observable, testable, and falsifiable predictions about the world around us, and god is not required for any of them!. I say, if it ain't broke, then don't fix it, entities shouldn't be multiplied beyond necessity!. Science is a tool of the skeptical, whereas faith appeals to laziness and voluntary ignorance!. the church once insisted the earth was flat!. the bible is forever subject to change and indeed has several times!. this life may be all we experience, so should we spend it cowering before intangibility!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

it is so nice to hear someone say that!

i think it is hard for people to believe what they cannot see!.
you can see many parts of science!.
you can see that when you water a plant it makes it grow!.
you cannot however see God protecting you, etc!.

i also think that saying you believe in a greater existence makes people feel more vulnerable because they cannot control the Almighty!.

Fearful people fear everything!.
Science needs to be learned, and it is not easy!. Ignorance is a natural phenomena!.
Therefore learning is to be feared because it take effort and one needs to get out of his or her comfort zone!.
