If we define "being human" as being a member of the human species, that would be the same as defining a house as wood and brinks forming four walls and a ceiling!. Technically, it is true, but it doesn't really answer the question!. What we really want to know is the purpose!. The purpose of a house is to provide its occupants with security from the harmful elements of nature, for example!. It just happens to be the case that four walls and a ceiling constructed from wood and bricks is fairly good at serving this purpose!. Knowing the numerous features of the human species (such as possessing opposible thumbs, standing upright, and using logic and morality in decision making) is very helpful in answering this question, but by itself it is not an answer!. These features have made us very adapt at survival, so much so that we have become the dominate species on the planet; however, if perpetuation of the species is a purpose, it is the purpose of the species, not necessarily the members of it!. So what is our purpose!?

Since things that do not exist cannot have a purpose, it is safe to say that whatever our individual purpose may be, it must come to us after birth!. Since our purpose can only be realized after we are born, it is highly improbably that it is the same for every person!. Therefore, whatever our purpose is, it is unique to each individual, and it is up to the individual to discover his or her purpose for him or herself!. But I think you already knew this because you made a very good point to find out what individuals believed, not Google!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
